It was in the winter of 2019. I vividly remember gazing at and admiring the flickering lights of the skyline and the traffic, and the absolute calmness I felt while the cameras were clicking time-lapse sequences of Dubai and Abu Dhabi skylines from rooftops.

Looking back at these scenes now, it makes me realize how fragile and precious that peace really is. It's almost like an illusion. It was a stillness we could never have imagined losing, a reminder that we can never take such moments for granted; not now, and not then.

I was featured in the February 2026 issue of Medium Format Magazine (subscription only), a leading and specialized publication recognised for its thoughtful curation, long‑form interviews and focus on the craft of medium format photography.

The piece explores my beginnings and my approach to architectural and hospitality work; precision, my thought process, narrative and the search for images that offer a different way of seeing.

Appreciate the editors for the invitation and the space to share the process.

Above and beyond the craft with 15 years of connection...

I recently hit fifteen years of shooting architecture and time-lapse films full-time. It is an important milestone for me. In that time, I have given well over a hundred workshops, inspiration speeches, round tables, interviews, masterclasses and seminars. I have also had the honor of judging numerous photography competitions and staying involved with our community in person and online.

Teaching and judging forced me to look closely at my own instincts. To explain my work to others, I had to understand it more deeply myself. This was especially true for post-production, where I had to break down every choice I made and explain to myself before anyone else.

What began as a way to share knowledge ended up making me a better artist. It made me more aware of my choices both behind the camera and in the studio. Beyond the work, these connections led to real friendships that have lasted for years. It is a wholesome exchange that went well beyond profession and commissions.

You give knowledge and you gain people in your life, which is the best reward of all.

You drive past them every day, but do you ever *really* look at billboards? We mean *really* look?

The sheer scale of outdoor advertising, and the craft that goes into the production of these billboards often goes unnoticed. We wanted to showcase the complex process behind creating a 50-meter wide image on a 150-meter long billboard in Dubai, highlighting the blend of photography, 3D CGI, and meticulous image editing. This BTS video offers a glimpse into the expertise and dedication required for such a project.
