Photography is the art, science, and practice of capturing images using a camera and recording light or other electromagnetic radiation. It involves creating images by exposing light-sensitive materials, such as film or digital sensors, to light. Photographers use various techniques, equipment, and skills to create visually compelling and meaningful images.

Photography allows individuals to capture moments, express creativity, document events, convey emotions, and tell stories through visual imagery. It is a versatile medium that can be used for artistic expression, journalism, advertising, scientific research, and personal documentation. With the advancements in technology, photography has become more accessible and widespread, enabling people to easily capture and share images with others....

Long exposure in photography is a technique where you use a slow shutter speed (keeping the camera’s shutter open for a longer time) to allow more light to hit the camera sensor. This creates effects that can’t be achieved with fast shutter speeds.

---

✅ What it is for:

1. Low Light Photography

Captures more light in dark environments (night photography, astrophotography, etc.).

2. Motion Blur Effects

Light trails (from cars, stars, fireworks).

Smooth water effect (rivers, waterfalls, ocean).

Cloud movement (dreamy sky effect).

3. Creative Photography

Capturing movement in crowds while keeping static objects sharp.

Painting with light (light painting).

---

✅ Typical Settings for Long Exposure:

Shutter Speed: 1 second to several minutes (e.g., 5s, 10s, 30s, or even longer).

Tripod: Essential to avoid camera shake.

Low ISO: (100–400) to reduce noise.

Small Aperture: (f/8 – f/16) for sharpness.

SHUTTER SPEED-
Shutter speed refers to the amount of time a camera's shutter remains open to let light hit the sensor (or film, in analog cameras). It’s measured in seconds or fractions of a second, like:

Fast shutter speed (e.g., 1/1000 sec): Freezes fast-moving subjects, great for sports or action shots.

Slow shutter speed (e.g., 1/30 sec or several seconds): Lets in more light, useful in low light or to create motion blur (like smooth waterfalls or light trails).

In short:

Faster = less light, freeze motion

Slower = more light, blur motion

Depth of field ....
Depth of field is the distance between the closest and farthest objects in a photo that appears acceptably sharp. Now your camera can only focus sharply at one point. But the transition from sharp to unsharp is gradual, and the term ‘acceptably sharp’ is a loose one! Without getting too technical, how you will be viewing the image, and at what size you will be looking at it are factors which contribute to how acceptably sharp an image is. It also depends on how good your vision is! Scientifically, it is based on something called the circle of confusion.

In photography and digital photography the shutter speed is the unit of measurement which determines how long shutter remains open as the picture is taken. The slower the shutter speed, the longer the exposure time. The shutter speed and aperture together control the total amount of light reaching the sensor.

What is ISO?
In very basic terms, ISO is simply a camera setting that will brighten or darken a photo. As you increase your ISO number, your photos will grow progressively brighter. For that reason, ISO is a good tool to help you capture images in dark environments or be more flexible about your aperture and shutter speed settings.

However, raising your ISO has consequences. A photo taken at too high of an ISO will show a lot of grain, also known as noise, and might not be usable. So, brightening a photo via ISO is always a trade-off. You should only raise your ISO when you are unable to brighten the photo via shutter speed or aperture instead (for example, if using a longer shutter speed would cause your subject to be blurry)
