Did a lot with these guys, took 100's of photographs of the birds and sold them as cards, notebooks, prints and calendars giving any profit back to the Foundation.

In 1914 an impressive memorial was erected by the Entente Cordiale Society along the Great North Road (now the A1M), to commemorate the 1,770 prisoners of war who died at the prison.

In 1990 this memorial was vandalised and the eagle stolen, and the Norman Cross Eagle Appeal was formed to raise funds to
restore this important piece of local, national and international heritage.

Such was the interest in this project that it attracted funds from around the world, so that in 2005 the restored memorial with a new bronze eagle was inaugurated by the Duke of Wellington and this is when we took these photographs.
