Russell P Murphy

Russell P Murphy **Due to covid-19 I have currently lost my passion for professional photography so am not presently taking bookings. My apologies.

I am hoping that one day that might return if I just give myself time. I create fresh, vibrant images that capture the essence of my subjects, from portraits, special events and landscapes, to commercial and documentary styles

I'm not a big fan of animal captivity in zoo's, especially for our primates.
But if we must have them, to educate us on threats of extinction through habitat loss, I guess a not-for-profit, with the largest open range one in Australia, is one of the better ways to accomodate them.
Here are a few snaps from my visit to Monarto yesterday.

Mushrooms are in the news lately, so I was lucky enough to tag along early this morning with John Thomas, who showed me the finer points of his macro technique.

I don't own a macro lens, so these are more enviro portrait style.....

Anyways, it was cold but very worthwhile, looking for these tiny specimens and just photographing them (rather than eating them!)

"Heavy Duty Weather"

With a photog event called off in the city, due to potential 'heavy duty' weather expected, I thought why not just hang around my own neighbourhood and see what I could get before the heaven's opened?

8 secs (single) exposure. NISI 6 stop. F16. 20mm. Edited in LR. Turned out it was 'all show and not much go'. Still need a lot more rain here...

I'm no birding photographer (as most of you know!), as these subjects are often too tiny for me, but with the fantastic help of gun birder like Vince Calo, I toted out my new (for me) lens, a 400mm 2.8 and snapped off these yesterday.

They are all still heavily cropped and FB compression won't do them any favours either.

Now all I need to know is what some of these little critters are called!! lol...πŸ˜„

I'm also very happy that my camera seems to have survived its ocean dunking last week, as it never missed a beat for these shots.
