I am drawn to railway stations and airports because there I see people in transitu. I was doing a photo shoot at Adelaide Railway Station today (as part of a documentary) and came across this woman sitting by herself. With a focal length of 160mm set at f/2.8, I could remain an unobtrusive distance away. I saw the filtered sunlight falling on her, like a natural spotlight, and grabbed this shot. She is sitting on a typical railway bench from yesteryear, which adds to the olde-worlde aesthetic in my post-production use of monochrome. Set in a busy local and interstate railway hub, In Mobilé Transitu captures one person in one moment, seemingly lost to another world.
