It was a pleasure and a privilege to capture the Nichols family — three bright sparks in the middle of a busy life. When you’re running a property, competing across the country and raising a baby, time moves fast — by the time I delivered this gallery, little Nash was already walking on his own. Lyn & Anthony asked me to photograph their backyard wedding — just family, a few close friends, nothing over the top. No big show, no fancy dress, no gaudy decorations. Without any of these distractions, what I noticed is that love took the spotlight.

It was beautiful to see this couple celebrate in their own way. I love a big wedding with all the trimmings — streamers, custom lights, colour-coded tables - but this was different, and it was perfect. It was all about connection, from the friends backyard to the cake made by family members - it was all so rare, intimate and full of love.
