So, when’s the best time to book a puppy photoshoot?
Honestly, as soon as you’re happy to and by that, we mean once your vet is happy for your puppy to be out and about. The timing can differ, with some vets recommending two vaccinations and others three, so always follow their advice.
Once they’re ready, we think there are some pretty good reasons to photograph them while they’re still really young:
📸 They’re curious, but not quite as distracted.
They’re interested in everything around them, but they’re often still inclined to stay close to their people before that more independent stage kicks in.
📸 It’s a great experience for them, too.
A new location, different sounds, smells, people and surroundings can all become part of their early exposure to the world.
Willow was a perfect example. She was only just old enough to be out exploring, but took everything in her stride and gave us far more to work with than we could have hoped for.
We’re very comfortable photographing young puppies and, if you’ve seen our litter photos, you’ll know we’re pretty accustomed to working with multiple tiny pups at once. We’re patient, flexible and happy to work at their pace.
So, once your vet gives you the green light, there’s really no need to wait for your puppy to be older, fully trained or perfectly behaved. They can have a great shoot exactly as they are.
