Shinya Tsukamoto | Mr. Nelson, Did You Kill People? | FX3

“Since we needed to shoot efficiently within a short period of time, we needed cameras that were small and lightweight, while still capable of delivering the image quality we were looking for. The three-camera setup was ideal for capturing the moment without missing anything, both during action scenes and in the indoor performances by the actors.”

Congratulations to the team behind ‘Mr. Nelson, Did You Kill People?’ For their nomination at the ongoing Venice Film Festival!

Rob Murray | Costa Rica: Into the Rainforest | FX5

“Wildlife is one of the toughest environments for any camera. Animals rarely move when expected, and often you only have seconds to react. In dense rainforest, fast pans through trees can easily reveal rolling shutter issues.

“One of the first things I noticed with the new FX5 was the confidence it gave me when following unpredictable movement. Whether tracking spider monkeys through the canopy or birds taking flight, I wasn’t thinking about the camera’s limitations. I could simply respond to the behaviour as it happened.

“For wildlife filmmaking, that matters enormously. Behaviour only happens once, and removing technical barriers lets you focus on storytelling.”

Rob Murray is an award-winning (including Jackson Wild nominee) Wildlife Cinematographer and self shooting Producer-Director. He has worked alongside some of the best in the industry, including Oscar-winning Director James Reed (My Octopus Teacher), and Panda award-winning Executive Producer Wolfgang Knoepfler (The Ivory Game).

“A lot of people in our industry are like me, they remember watching Star Wars as a kid and watching a spaceship rumbling over their head and just wanting to make that thing - this production has been an opportunity to do that.”

The International Space Station has been hurtling around Earth at 17,000 mph since the first module was place into orbit in 1998. Inhabited for 25 years since the first crew arrived onboard the ISS, Blink Films marked the occasion by producing a feature-length documentary showing the challenges of living in space – and turned to the Sony VERONA alongside the VENICE 2 and VENICE Extension System Mini to put audiences in the heart of space.

From air leaks to docking disasters, technical glitches to malfunctioning spacesuits, the documentary Space Station: We Have a Problem uncovers how the astronauts that have lived on the space station have kept it operational, delivering extraordinary science, through their brilliance and bravery.

Jonny Rhodes | Substrate | FX5

“I was immediately impressed with how versatile the FX5 is. Having several features from the VENICE, BURANO and FX cameras but in a mirrorless sized body will make this a tool I’ll be planning future productions around.

“Sony’s new compressed versions of X-OCN, C1 & C2 are also exceptional. We now have the ability to record 16-bit 4:4:4 Linear RAW internally without the heavy storage demands.

“Overall, being able to capture exceptional imagery, in efficient file sizes, whilst using a mirrorless sized camera truly feels like a meaningful step forward in Sony’s Cinema Line of cameras!”

Ruben Scott | Different But Same | FX5

“For me, the FX5 worked because it gave us so much freedom: freedom to capture what we wanted without compromise, freedom to play around with the image in post, and freedom to keep the focus on the story rather than the equipment or any technical difficulties. That’s really what I look for in a camera.”
