Just a note that I've been holding off reflecting on Sunday not just because I have to fit editing etc around work, but because of how our supposed "law and order" acted had really upset & angered me to the point I couldn't think straight enough to speak on it. I can now say that I no longer believe we live in a police state, because from what I've seen we're now in a full blown stormtrooper state.
From what I gather there were 7 arrests on Sunday, their "crime"? Use of 'prohibited expressions'
First arrest was Sam Watson Jr for referring to one of the prohibited phrases while addressing the rally with his experience on board the Sumud Flotilla & the subsequent mistreatment upon abduction by Israel. QPS drones as brutal as they are, apparently can't hold a candle to the IDF.
An older gentleman was shoved to the ground by stormtroopers during a following series of arrests, from what I saw via another news article someone else was also shoved onto him while he was on the ground (I made a .gif of the event & shared it on Facebook as an eyewitness account of it) It was during this batch of arrests that I struggled to get a grasp on the number of arrests.
These laws have been described as unconstitutional for reasons that ought to be obvious, police seem to be getting a kick out of exercising their right to abuse power (I have noticed that police will wait a moment between citing the prohibited phrase & the arrest) I'm lucky my only contact on Sunday was being plucked off the road by my bag, & my only other interaction was basically instructions to get off the road.
I'd love to elaborate further but I'm pressed for time.

Nothing to see here, folks.
Just a .gif of the Five-O throwing their weight around like it's going out of fashion:
For context, cops came in because words might hurt z10 feelings or something daft, so they barged in to arrest a handful of word users & shoved over some older guy (who then needed medical attention)
From what I saw in other footage, another attendee was pushed onto this gentleman amidst the chaos.
I hope this guy takes legal action against these larping stormtroopers...
Anyway, I'm over halfway through the culling process, will have to work it around work tomo... oh s**t, today 😬

The Aussie Gaza flotilla captives (including Sam Woripa Watson) have now been released from Israeli detention.

Humanitarian civilians should not have to risk abduction, torture, detention, and military violence simply to deliver aid whilst Australia continues business as usual - no sanctions, no meaningful pressure, continued weapons trade.

These activists put their bodies on the line because governments refuse to.
