2017 Victorian Optimist State Championships

Good to be out on the water with the lens again.. Though frustrated with no breeze, then a little breeze that decided to shift for an hour or so under postponement. Eventually settled to the delight of the very chatty kids eager to get underway. Well done everyone on Day one of racing.

Light day out on the track with the breeze dying to complete only two of the three scheduled races. The leaderboard has changes with Fair Dinkum (Grant Hudson) going into tomorrow wearing the yellow jerseys on 14 pts, 5 pts clear of Top 40 (Peter Merrington) and Victorian entrant Tango (Chris Hampton) who sits on 21 points. More wind and waves expected tomorrow.

Stunning conditions out here for day 2 of the Evans Long 20th Australasian championships... Just going through their pre-race is Matt Chew and his team on Gen XY who wear the yellow jerseys as the overnight leaders...

A bit of media coverage of the thrills and spills of yesterday's racing... Defending champions Yandoo XX found themselves with a nightmare hole in the boat only 2 legs into the first race.. Their day was done... But my super skilled boat driver of the past 4 years 'Storky' has come to the rescue, working through the night to have them back out on the water today..

2016 Etchells Australasian Championship - Where Else But Queensland is the call out to Etchells sailors to come north to enjoy the excitement of great winter racing right through from April to October 2016.The season starts on April 30 with the first of the Brisbane Fleet’s championship regattas.
