The "Pinterest Outfit" trap ruining family photos
Somewhere along the line, we were taught that to get "good" family photos, we had to go buy brand-new, perfectly colour-coordinated pastel outfits for eight different people across three generations.
The result?
Stress before you’ve even left the house. Kids complaining that their clothes are scratchy. Granddad feeling awkward in a shirt he’d never normally pick off the rack. And a whole lot of forced, aching smiles.
Here’s what I believe:
Matching outfits don't make a memory. Real connection does.
You don't need matching clothes to show that you belong to each other. You just need to be together.
When I come into your home for a photo session, I want your family to open their wardrobes and just pick what they feel comfortable in. Lived-in jumpers, favourite tees, comfortable slacks, even mismatched socks—that is the stuff that tells the true story of your life right now.
Years from now, those unscripted, comfortable photos are the ones that will bring a tear to your eye—because they capture the real people you love, not a styled catalogue version of them.
Ready for a photo session where nobody has to go shopping or wear scratchy clothes?
Send me a direct message with the word "REAL" and let’s talk about capturing your family just as you are.
