This is a bit of a long one, but it's worth a read. Yesterday I had the privilege of photographing Don’s 90th birthday. He and his family had lunch at their favourite pub and then all went home for tea and cake (the way most family outings end up I was told).

The first thing I noticed when I walked into the kitchen of their family home of 50 years was the fridge… Covered in generations worth of photos, this fridge represented their family, and it wasn’t lost on me that one of my photos would probably end up on there too.

After all the photos, cake and tea were done and, as people began to leave, I found myself mesmerised by this fridge. One of Don’s great-grandchildren must have seen me admiring it because she came over and proceeded to tell me about all the photos - pointing out images of her as a baby and her father as a young boy. I could tell she had also spent a lot of time admiring this fridge over the years.

Yesterday reminded me of why I do this. Of, not only this importance of taking photos, but also of printing them ❤️ Happy birthday Don, here's to many more!
