I could not be prouder of my husband. He has been a part of the Volunteer Rescue Association for nearly 40 years. Our little family has grown up with the pager going off night and day, and now our grandchildren are growing up with it too.
Every time the pager goes off or a message comes through, we feel incredibly proud of what he is able to do. He has the opportunity to give someone the chance of life or assist in a recovery.
He works alongside an amazing team of people who are all doing the same thing. Sometimes they are giving up dinner with their family, a celebration, or even a good night’s sleep to step into their green gear and boots and go out to help someone in need.
This weekend was all about training. They worked through scenarios based on situations that have occurred, giving them the opportunity to practise their processes, learn something new, and use trial and error in a training environment so they can get it right when it matters most, when it is someone’s loved one depending on them.
I was lucky enough to be asked to capture the two days of training. It gave me the opportunity to see a side of what Jason and the members of VRA Rescue NSW - Inverell do that I would not normally get to see.
Watching them work together, problem-solve, learn from each other and continually improve their skills gave me an even greater appreciation for what they do.
Jason, and every member of the VRA Rescue NSW – Inverell team, you are incredible. I am so proud of you all and so grateful for the time, commitment and sacrifices you make to be there when someone needs you most.
