Silent Selves portrays different facets of life through the use of overlapping leaves as metaphors. Each of four triptychs presents my vision of an idea. Within Identity, the foundation triptych, a single leaf reveals the world-facing persona, a deeper hidden essence, and the richness which comes from an understanding and appreciation of both.

Colour or black and white? For my photographic style dawn is nearly always the territory of my conventional colour camera, soaking up the soothing pastels. During the middle of the day I am more likely to be walking the shoreline with my infrared conversion (830nm) Sony, which produces a black and white image.

Walhalla: Where History Meets the Present
A Victorian gold rush town reimagined.

Walhalla is in my neighbourhood (if you take the broad perspective). Over several visits a few years ago I scouted locations, researched historical photographs and stories, then blended past and present to create a series of ten images.

They are my tribute to a town that played an important role in Victoria’s history and remains one of my favourite local destinations.

Like many of my ideas, it took me far too long to finally write about it, but I’ve just finished a blog post on the project, the history behind the locations, and how the images were made.

Resilience isn't about being untouched; it’s about how we carry our history.

This print I have called "Weathered", which is part of my conceptual Silent Selves series.

It is a reflection on the traces left by experience and the beauty of the "imperfect" self. Here I have presented the print as a framed visualization, much closer to the real thing hanging on the wall than the basic image.
