I miss this kind of green. 💚

Not garden green. Not neatly trimmed hedge green.

Otways green.

The kind that covers everything. Tree ferns taller than houses. Moss creeping over fallen logs. Damp leaves underfoot. Green so deep and layered that it almost feels impossible that nature could create this many shades of the same colour.

My favourite colour has always been blue, but every time I find myself back in the Otways I start questioning that.

We used to own a little gorgeous property in Birregurra and, particularly at this time of year, I miss it more than I can explain.

Winter settles differently in the rainforest. The air is cold and heavy. Everything is damp. The tracks are muddy. Your shoes never quite dry out.

And yet it’s magic.

I loved wandering through the forest with my family and my camera, following tracks we’ve never walked before, looking for glowworms, stopping to admire a fern or a fallen tree as though we’ve never seen one before.

Maybe it’s because I spent time here as a child, but there is something about the smell of a rainforest floor that instantly transports me. Earthy, wet, rich and familiar. It feels like nostalgia, even if I can’t quite explain why.

Some places ask nothing of you except that you slow down enough to notice them.

The Otways has always been one of those places for me. 💚

I’ve spent the last few years sleeping around.

Ahhh ha no… Not in the way you’re thinking. 😉

Just in some of Australia’s most beautiful beds.

From boutique hotels to hidden beach shacks, country retreats and design-led stays, these are just some of the beautiful bedrooms I’ve had the privilege of photographing along the way.

A collection of spaces that prove a good bed is never just a place to sleep. A sanctuary within itself. And I can honestly say these are some of the very best, most comfortable, most luxurious, cloud like beds there are!
With a couple of my own thrown into the mix.

So I hope a few of you are left dreaming of a stay at one of these gorgeous abodes. A few favourites from the archives. 🤎

I do think styling beds to photograph is my favourite thing to do on an accommodation shoot.

Salt on skin, martinis as the sun slips out of sight.
Rae’s is the kind of place you never really forget, I mean… why would you want to!

As someone who spends most of my time photographing small boutique stays, the quiet kind, the intimate kind, the thoughtfully layered homes tucked along coastlines and country roads, I didn’t expect to feel so connected to a hotel this large.

But good design is good design.

Whether it’s a tiny beach shack with linen curtains moving in the breeze, or a hotel rising above Darling Harbour, I’m drawn to spaces that make people feel something. Spaces with atmosphere. Personality. A point of view.

I’m always noticing how a space holds light, shape and atmosphere, and leans all the way into it.

Everything is layered in reflections, mood, texture and dramatic lines. It’s bold, immersive and completely committed to the experience of design. What struck me most while capturing it was just how unapologetically visual the entire hotel is.

Thanks for having me W Sydney. It was lovely to be back in Sydney again. ❤️

I don’t know what it is about beach boxes, but they get me every time.

Maybe it’s the nostalgia. The faded paint, the salty sea air, the way they’ve sat there through decades of summer holidays, sandy feet and windy beach days.

Framed by twisting tangles of tea tree and worn coastal tracks, they feel so deeply woven into the landscape.

They feel so uniquely Australian to me. A little imperfect, a little weathered, but somehow all the more beautiful because of it. Like memories left out in the sun too long. The kind that taste like salt on your lips and summers long passed.

These beach boxes were captured recently over on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, while I was there shooting a boutique accomodation.
These Beach Boxes felt a bit like photographing memories. 🤎
