ANCIENT ECSTASY ❤️‍🔥

This painting is about the human being's ancient longing for spiritual experience and deep connection to the Divine. An innate drive that we still have within us today, living our lives in the modern world. It is part of our shared humanity, no matter the location or time we're in.

DESERT SPRINGS 🌅

The desert is spiritually meaningful in many religions, traditions and cultures and seen as a place of spiritual transformation. Jesus spent 40 days in the desert before he started his ministry, and the Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 days to shed their old identity and prepare for the Promised Land. Many saints and mystics sought the desert as a place of solitude, to feel the presence of the Divine. The desert is seen as a place of stillness and contemplation, where one has to face oneself without distractions, confronting one's ego in the harshness of one's environment, and going through a spiritual death, shedding the old self and illusions. This process is both intense and painful, yet freeing. The springs represent the new life that emerges after such a profound transformation. 💧

HEALING WAVES 🌊💧🌅

I made this painting over a year ago and it's been in two exhibitions, but I haven't shared it with you all on here yet, so now it's definitely time.

'Healing Waves' is inspired by the ocean and how it always makes us feel better when we swim in it or walk along it. The waters of the deep sea represent the subconscious, while a horizon of calm light permeates the dense darkness, pulling us out of the depths.

This is a new painting, part of a series of small paintings I created last year. It’s an uplifting piece inspired by the beauty and freedom of nature - a tussle of green nature with a mischievous and joyful purple, and a glowing yellow before the perfection of a blue sky.
