Feat. : Captain Rudy 📷:
Having studied something along the lines of Maritime and Shipping, Captain Rudy turned to being a Bumboat Operator who runs its service between Changi Village Ferry Terminal to Pulau Ubin.
When asked if it was difficult making ends meet, with the the cost of running the boat and high cost of living in Singapore. He told me, "It's still alright but what's important is the nature of this job. I get to meet to new people and have an awesome view at work".
There's no denying it, blue seas and skies on a good day. Who wouldn't like it?
But it was his next statement that illustrated how carefree he was in his current situation and job, akin to free navigation in open waters.
"You're free to do whatever you want to do and it is not a stressful job"
This dying trade of operating bumboats.
One young, carefree captain in this trade with a bright and welcoming smile to passengers.
Huge statement on how this trade might not be for the old uncles only, and it just might not die off.
