What’s in a name? That which we call a rose/By any other name would smell as sweet.” 🌹

Why have I changed my username? I really didn’t think anyone would notice! After much ridiculous angst I felt it was time to begin drop ‘wishpom’ from my online presence. It’s been my business name since I was doing markets 10years ago and it was kind nice to hide behind. The name came from Eloise when she was tiny calling a dandelion a ‘wishpom’ and it really fitted what I was doing at the time and I got quite attached to it. But social media has changed, instagram has changed and now that I am moving more into solidifying my creative practice it was becoming a bit problematic, I figured it would be easier just to have my real name in there. Time will tell if that is infact the case!

🥂Cheers to new beginnings!

Illustration: an old cigarette card from The American To***co Company. There’s a whole series of ‘beauties, palette girls’ c1900. Isn’t she great! I think there are 25 to collect 🎨😍

Song: CMAT Running/Planning because running and planning feels like all I have done this week and CMAT has been the soundtrack to my year and she is an absolute 👑

Hello! It’s been a bit quiet around here but finally some new work in progress. Lots of experimentation, lots of mistakes and happy accidents and finally back to my true love of alternative photographic processes. Experimenting with Cyanotypes for the first time in many years 💙

Have you heard of Anna Atkins? It is believed she is the first person to ever publish a book with photographic illustrations (a book of british algae in 1843), a true pioneer of early photography. I am fully down the rabbit hole 🐇🌷🌼

NSW road tripping photo dump.

1-4. I took my Dad to see the magnificent Gillian Welch and David Rawlings at The State Theatre in Sydney (3 encores!!!). I don’t think I have been inside since the late 90s when I saw Ben Harper and bumped into Pat Rafter coming down the stairs 😂. It is a stunning theatre that opened in 1929. The foyer and internal decoration is so maximalist and opulent. It’s a LOT!

5. Detail of the Jenny Kee mural in Blackheath.

6. Govetts Leap. The air/sky was weird for much of our mountains trip. Giving ‘1970s E-6 slide film’ with a strange eerie yellow glow through low hanging clouds/fog

7-8. Lucy Culliton’s ‘Close to Home’ exhibition at SECCA in Bega. Magical paintings I just wanted to walk into.

9. Cutie Female Gang Gang cockatoo at Potaroo Palace in Merimbula

10. Flying Fox friends. We spotted two camps. One coming into Bermagui from the north, and one in Bega at Glebe Park.

11. The picturesque Wallagoot Gap. Not a soul in sight.

12. Kangaroos on the road near the Turingal Head picnic area

Also visited a truck load of antique shops. Will post haul soon!

Look at this darling boy ❤️ He is a rescue that lives at in Merimbula on the Sapphire Coast of NSW, a magic little animal sanctuary and education centre with the biggest heart. We have been visiting since my girls were little. Lots of special memories here and a wonderful way to spend a few hours.

I was also delighted to pick up one of founder Alexandra Seddon’s beautiful original collages in the gift shop!

We further recommend adopting practice common at major collecting institutions overseas and reforming the library’s governance to reflect the views of stakeholders including scholars and other public users, whose interests have not been considered in the plan."

Katie Noonan: Jeff Buckley’s Grace
30th Anniversary Celebration

Hearing Grace performed live from start to finish is not something I ever thought was going to happen, let alone with the family in tow. But with thanks to the gorgeous human that is exactly what we were able to experience! Becoming big fans of George in those early days always felt like a natural progression from being a JB fan. So this was a spectacular treat!

Ro and I met sort of in a crazy way via JB in 1996. It was the ‘olden days’ in an IRC JB chatroom to be more specific. A place where I met so many lovely people from all over the globe, swapped bootlegs, sharing laughs, concert recollections and life. And then sadly supported each other through the grief of that fateful day and the months ahead, meeting up in various capital cities for tribute shows and vigils. We were all so young. And the internet was not a fashionable place to meet friends! I think Caitlin in particular kind of likes the fact that she most likely wouldn’t exist without Jeff Buckley in a round about way. And she wears my original tees with pride.

We had stupidly close seats (so close it was at times hard to see) and I felt way too uncomfortable to break the vibe and take any pics until the last couple of songs where I snapped a few blindly with my phone. On the flip side being that close felt almost like we were the only ones in the room and that was a unique experience! After having had a tumultuous few years I think it must have taken a great deal of courage for Katie to sing some of those emotional heart tugging songs about love and loss. But I am so grateful she did. Her voice. No words! Just goosebumps and gratitude from us.

The band were so good and true to the original (props to the drummer for the extra entertainment and quick thinking musical adlibs - loved watching you). Also a treat to hear supremely lovely and talented support, and then play one of our favorite covers ‘Moonage Daydream’. A delightful surprise. (We are now fans!)

Stellar night! ❤️
