⛏️ Hidden above Myrtleford is one of the town’s richest gold mining sites.

Gold was discovered at the Reform Reef in 1854, and for over 30 years the Reform Mine was one of Myrtleford’s biggest gold producers. The five-head Reform Battery crushed quartz from the mine, helping recover the gold hidden inside the rock.

Today you can walk the Reform Hill track past the old mine entrance, ventilation shaft, and other historic workings before reaching one of the best lookouts over Myrtleford and the Ovens Valley.
