I have kicked off through Nambucca Heads Arts Studio.
Calling on artists and teaching artists to share FREE, ACCESSIBLE activities that bring REFLECTION, CALM and/or SMILES online.
The aim is to help more people benefit from arts practice in their day to day life, plus there are benefits for artists across the Mid North Coast.
Post an activity and simply tag on FB or Insta and I will repost and making sure the artist is credited.
I hope all are doing well. x
Early this year, during a visit to a local GP, I mentioned that I had established the Nambucca Arts Studio. My GP seemed excited by the project. That afternoon I returned home to find a lengthy document in my letterbox, a medical research paper regarding the health benefits of arts practice, personally delivered by my GP.
In response to COVID-19 I feel this is a very timely moment for artists, to share their passion and reveal the importance of CREATIVE CAPITAL in helping our community cope with life's challenges
We are calling on artists and teaching artists of ALL ART FORMS across the MID NORTH COAST, NSW to share an arts activity for people to do whilst in isolation.
All activities need to:
- Be FREE.
- Be ACCESSIBLE for a wide age range and ability and consider that people may have limited resources.
- Bring REFLECTION, CALM and/or SMILES.
If you are doing something creative right now that is lifting your spirits, then it is likely to help someone else. Check out our FB and Insta feed for ideas that have already come in.
Some of you simply don’t have capacity for this right now, some days I don’t either and that is fine.
For anyone with the space and energy please DM up to 150 words and up to 4 images describing the activity through Facebook or simply tag when posting an activity on FB or Instagram - your contributions will be posted/reposted and CREDITED.
IMPORTANTLY during these trying times this initiative can HELP ARTISTS of the Mid North Coast as a way
- To spark connection with other local creatives.
- To meaningfully share practice.
- To enable professional opportunities.
- To collaboratively grow audiences.
BEFORE COVID HIT, I was in conversation one day with Regional Arts Australia, the officer spoke of isolation as a VERY common experience for artists living regionally. Can we use this experience as an opportunity to really unpack how we can BE IN THIS TOGETHER NOW and into the FUTURE??
Have you been thinking about this?
What would support, as an arts practitioner living in the MNC, look like for you right now?
I thank you for your time and sincerely hope all are well.
