ACE King Photos

ACE King Photos Amateur photographer, shooting landscapes and nature scenes, still life, portraits. This is a gallery of my work, please enjoy!

I shoot with a NIKON D3100 and D7000, with nikkor 18-55 f3.5-5.6 and 35mm f1.8, Samyang 8mm f3.5, Yongnuo YN468 II flash. I started taking my photography seriously about 6 months ago, after going through some of our honeymoon photos and thinking "Gee some of these aren't too bad!" I'm still learning the basics, but am slowly building up a collection of some good shots. I know I'm only going to get

better! Hoping to take a photography course in the next year or so and develop my hobby into a part-time occupation.

First lot of shots with my new D750! Took the fam out to Perry Lakes recently, its a cool open space and was good to give Oreo a run around. These were shot with the Nikon 70-300mm and also with the DX 35mm f1.8, which is still just as amazing on this full frame as it was on my old D7000. Passing the D7000 onto my oldest son for him to get stuck into.

Enjoy!

Hi all. Well we have just returned from a week long camping trip. On the first leg, we stayed a few nights at Nambung Station, just north of Cervantes. This gave me a really good opportunity to dust off the old Nikon and get a few Milky Way snaps and a few of the farm life. From there, we headed up to Geraldton for a few more nigths, however we were quite busy catching up with rellies and copped the top edge of the low pressure system that swept across the coast. We are safely back in Perth, so after unpacking I jumped straight on to go through and upload the best of the snaps I caught. Hope you enjoy these photos, feel free to leave some comments. Hopefully I will have some opportunities to get out with the camera some more. Cheers!

Wow, almost a whole year since I have updated this page. I apologise, but it has been one of those years. I haven't been able to get out with the camera as much as I would have liked to, but hopefully now I will be able to start getting out more. Tonight, as we all know by now, was the night of the Super Moon! I know facebook is going to get smashed with everyones photo's, so if you can't beat them join them!!! Here are a few of my snaps of the rare event, taken at Lake Joondalup. Hope you enjoy! Like and share with your friends!

Hi everyone, hope you are all well. I finally managed to get out for my first ever sunrise shoot this morning. It was a bit of a last minute call at 4am haha. I looked outside to see some nice cloud moving over, and was originally gonna bust it down to Perth to get a city/river/sunrise shot. But I had left it too late, so I ended up down at Lake Joondalup. It surprised me just how quick the colours started to show, a good 15-20 minutes before actual sunrise. It was very peaceful, and will definitely try and time it better next time. Here's a couple from this morning. Enjoy :)

Hi Everyone,
It's been a while since I have been out to take some snaps, but we have had a new addition to our beautiful family with the birth our second son Lucas.
We took a family picnic today out to Bells Rapids, so I managed to get a few grabs from there. Later this evening I went to Lake Joondalup for sunset. The clouds were right, but the colours just didn't come as I thought they would.
However, here's a couple I have managed to post for your viewing pleasure.
Enjoy, and goodnight

2 Long Exposures from Mundaring Weir

18/04/2015

I managed to get out late last night to Mundaring Weir to try some astro shots. Overall pretty happy with the results. I just forgot to focus my lens properly before I left. So much harder trying to focus on a distant star, and the result is a whole lot of just out of focus shots. And I had to stop shooting and adjust the interval settings halfway through the timelapse sequence, hence the point in the clip where it jumps to a different angle. But generally they came out ok. So here is the short time lapse and I'll post a couple of stills too.

Enjoy.

Hey everyone, I have always been fascinated by time lapse videos, but have never understood just how it was done. Well I tried my hand at it the other day, a series of 719 photos made into a short clip from my backyard. Its best watched in HD. Nothing flash but it has just given me a whole new dimension of my photography to explore. Somehow I had some specks on my camera sensor so there's a few artifacts that are visible on the left side in some frames but overall I'm pretty happy with my first attempt. If the weather is right tonight, I'm going to take a trip and try and do my first astro timelapse. The milky way core should be rising over the horizon later this evening which should make for some amazing shots. Wish me luck!

Did my first wedding shoot for a good family friend the other week. It was a great day, had an absolute blast being part of their fantastic day and celebrating with them, and was honoured that they allowed me (and trusted me!) to capture these special moments. Here is a few photos of the beautiful couple. Have a great day everyone!
