"Word of mouth gets someone to check you out. It doesn't get them through the door by itself.
A lot of referral-built businesses believe this without saying it out loud: 'my clients already come from word of mouth, so my Instagram doesn't really matter.' But a referral doesn't skip the checking-out step — it just guarantees there is one.
If the page doesn't match the trust that got someone there, the referral quietly dies at that step. The person who sent them never finds out why.
This studio's own client base came entirely through word of mouth too, and there's still a full brand system behind it. Referrals get you found. The page decides if that's enough.
