𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝘀?

I almost forgot to share these!

Old Tailem Town isn't just about history... it's a goldmine for car lovers too.

From semi preserved classics to rusty relics that have almost become one with the earth, every vehicle has a story to tell. Some have stood the test of time, while others proudly wear every dent, scratch and battle scar they've collected over the decades.

Even if museums aren't usually your thing, but you can't resist an old car, Old Tailem Town is still well worth the visit.

We spent another hour just wandering through this section.

🏕️ 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪 – 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀, 𝗦𝗔

Apparently taking campsite photos isn't one of my strengths... 🤦‍♀️

The last time we stayed here was November 2022... and guess what? I forgot to take photos then too! 😂 This visit? Yep... did it again! So you'll have to make do with a sky view though it's a lush green now. 🚁🤣

One thing that really stood out this visit was the fantastic caretaker. We were in town working with Hudsons Circus, and they were incredibly understanding and accommodating of our situation. It's always appreciated when people go that little bit extra. 😊

It's also a great base to explore Murray Bridge and the surrounding attractions (check out some of our earlier posts to see what we got up to!).

⭐ Would we stay again? Absolutely!

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗺 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻!

We thought we'd spend an hour or so here...

Three hours later we were still wandering around and could have stayed even longer!

Old Tailem Town is the largest pioneer village in the Southern Hemisphere, with over 110 historic buildings showcasing life in South Australia from the 1860s through to the 1960s. Many of the buildings have actually been relocated from towns all over the state and rebuilt here, complete with period furnishings and thousands of original artefacts.

If you're like us and love discovering not just what something is, but how it worked and why it existed, you'll have an absolute ball. We found ourselves disappearing down rabbit holes reading all the information boards... even about a Cow Poo Hut, which was fascinating but not for us!

There's simply too much to squeeze into one post, so the incredible collection of vintage cars deserves one all of its own! 🚗

It's only about 25 minutes from Murray Bridge, making it a perfect day trip if you're in the area... and one we'd happily do all over again.

Who's local or camping in the area? We would love to say hi! 😊

We are looking for somewhere to park Alphabet Bus for a week or two while we're working. Unfortunately there aren't many options that can fit our big rig and welcome our dogs.

If you have a bit of space on a farm, acreage, business, or even know someone who might, we'd love to hear from you.

In return we're always happy to have a chat, share a few travel stories, and of course we can pay and/or love to point you in the direction of the circus ...free 🎟🎟 🎪

🇩🇪 Hahndorf... come hungry!

Hahndorf, Australia's oldest surviving German settlement, Founded in 1839 by Prussian settlers, the town still has a wonderful old-world feel with its tree-lined main street and heritage buildings.

It may be a German town, but we also found plenty of Dutch delights to tempt the taste buds! Martin even found some tripple salt liquorice, I found Spaghetti Icecream!

For me the highlight was the cuckoo clock shop. It instantly took me back to childhood, standing there waiting for the little bird to pop out. 🕰️❤️

With more than 100 shops, cafés, bakeries and quirky little stores, you could easily spend a whole day wandering the main street.

If you're anywhere near Adelaide, we definitely put Hahndorf visit list. Just don't make the mistake of visiting on an empty stomach! 🤣🚍

💨 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁... 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁! 😂

Over 1,000kms, 3 states, and less than 2 days... definitely quicker than our usual style of travel!

We actually loved chewing through the kilometres. There's something about watching the landscape open up, the trees thin out, and the red dirt finding its way onto your shoes that just feels like home. ❤️

We've now landed in **Murray Bridge**, where we are busy promoting Hudson Circus before moving on to other areas around Adelaide... then it's westward bound! 🚍🎪
