I’ve lived the chaos, the cuddles, and the camera roll full of imperfectly perfect moments. I’m Sharni wife, mum of four, and the creative behind Sharni Tolhurst Photography. My journey started with a disposable camera and a love for capturing life exactly as it is messy, beautiful, and fleeting. Over the years, I’ve learned that the best photos aren’t posed or perfect they’re the ones that make y

ou feel something. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to create sessions that feel more like play than posing. I guide you through moments of laughter, movement, and connection so your photos reflect who you really are not a polished version, but the honest, joyful, beautiful truth.

Limited bookings remain for August - December 2026 🤍

For a little while,

it was just us.

Your hand in mine.

Your sleepy head on my shoulder.

Your laughter filling every corner of my days.

Then one day, I felt another heartbeat growing beneath my own.

And suddenly time felt different.

Because I knew our story was about to change.

Not end.

Just grow.

You made me a mother first.

You taught me how deep love could run.

And because of you, I know there is room for more.

More laughter.

More little footsteps.

More love than I ever thought a heart could hold.

Soon you’ll become a big sister.

But you’ll always be the little girl who made me Mum.

And that will forever be one of the greatest gifts of my life. 🤍

If you’ve been dreaming about documenting this season before it changes, I’d love to create something beautiful with you.

If you know me in real life, this will come as absolutely no surprise.

Most days my car soundtrack is:

“MUMMMMM!” followed by some ridiculous sibling drama because someone looked at someone the wrong way 🤪

Danny Go (no shame to admit we love Danny Go songs)

Huntr/x.
(Again… no shame here.)

My husband’s Spotify playlist.
IYKYK 😂

HOWEVER…

When I’m driving to a photoshoot by myself?

The music is loud.

The singing is questionable.

The dancing is embarrassing.

And honestly… it’s one of my favourite parts of the day.

Also yes, I travel 🤍

If there’s a beautiful location involved, chances are I’ll happily jump in the car and make a road trip out of it.

Tell me where we’re going and I’ll bring the camera, the playlist and the good vibes.

August to December bookings are now open. Send me a message to book yours 🫶🏽

As a mum of four, I swear the newborn stage went faster with each baby.

More chaos. More noise. More to juggle.

I remember staring at each of my babies, trying to memorise every detail.

Their tiny eyelashes.
The shape of their lips.
The softness of their cheeks.

I was convinced I’d remember it forever.

But now I have a 12 year old asking,

“Mum, did I have hair when I was a baby?”

And honestly… some of those details have faded.

Not because they weren’t important.

Because life kept moving.

That’s why photos matter so much to me.

When memories become blurry, photographs bring you right back.

Back to the tiny fingers.
The sleepy cheeks.
The weight of them on your shoulder.

I’ll never regret taking photos of my babies.

August to December bookings are now open for couples, newborn, maternity and family sessions.

Don’t wait for the perfect time.

The tiny details are changing already. 🤍

You don’t need to be pregnant to deserve beautiful photos of yourself 🤍

Sometimes women book photos to celebrate motherhood.
Sometimes it’s for a partner.
Sometimes it’s after weight loss, heartbreak, healing, becoming, surviving or finally starting to feel like themselves again.

And sometimes…
you don’t need a reason at all.

You are allowed to exist in photographs in every chapter of your life not just when you’ve “earned it.”

This session felt soft, strong, feminine and free all at once.
And honestly? I think more women deserve to see themselves this way.

Not perfectly.
Just honestly. ✨

I currently only have 16 session dates remaining between August–December across maternity, motherhood and storytelling sessions.

If you’ve been thinking about booking, this is your reminder that there will probably never be a perfectly “less busy” season of life 🤍

Okay I have a confession.

I have a genuine fear of awkward silences.

like it makes me so nervous that I just… start talking.
and sometimes I say really silly things.
genuinely ridiculous things.
just because I’m trying to fill the space.

and then everyone ends up laughing
sometimes with me, sometimes at me
but honestly? either works.

so when I get messages like

“just so you know, we’ve never had photos before. we’re a little nervous”

or

“fair warning we are so awkward in front of the camera”

I genuinely smile.

because I already know.

we’re going to have the best time. 🤍

What’s your love story?

Maybe it’s cowboy boots in an open field.
Sunday drives with no destination.
Pizza on the couch.
Gelato after dinner.
Fishing on the river.
Slow dancing in the kitchen.
A motorbike ride at sunset.
Hiking to the best view.

Whatever your story looks like, I’m here for it. I’ll bring the music, the camera and the vibes.

You just have to tell me a little about yourselves.

I’ll help guide the rest, the location, the outfits, the feeling of it all - so your photos actually feel like you.

The best photos are never about perfection anyway. They’re about connection, memories and freezing this season before it changes.

If you’ve been thinking about booking photos with your person, this is your sign to do it 🤍

The way I photograph families is pretty simple 🤍

We play games.
We explore.
We let the kids lead.

We climb trees, listen to music, run, sing, dance, spin around, watch nature, cuddle, laugh and just let the moment unfold naturally.

Every session is built around your family and the season you’re currently in. Before your session, I ask questions to properly get to know your family, what your kids love, what feels like you, what moments matter most and what you want to remember years from now.

Then together we create a session around that.

I help guide the location if you don’t already have somewhere in mind, along with outfits and the overall feel, so it never has to feel overwhelming or overly planned.

And most importantly… I’m not expecting your children to stand still and perform for me.

I’m there to spend time with your family exactly as you are right now and document the connection already happening between you 🤍

She is still herself here.
Not lost in motherhood,
but unfolding through it.

Soft enough to feel everything.
Strong enough to carry it anyway.

There is vulnerability in becoming a mother
in being seen, changing, surrendering.
But there is power in it too.
The kind that asks women to stop shrinking
and finally take up space in their own story.

These photos feel like permission.
To be emotional.
To be undone.
To be beautiful and powerful at the same time.

I’ll always love the emotion colour brings too…
but there’s something about black and white that feels timeless.

So tell me honestly, which one pulls you in more?
Colour or black and white?

Hey mum, I get it 🤍

Before I’m a photographer, I’m a mum too.

I know what it feels like after carrying a baby for 9 months, giving birth, coming home exhausted, recovering, and not quite feeling like yourself yet.

I know the mental load that comes with family photos:
• what will everyone wear?
• is the house clean enough?
• should we do them at home or somewhere outside?
• what if the kids don’t cooperate?
• what if I feel awkward?
• what if I don’t feel confident in my body yet?

And honestly?
Inviting someone into your home during such a raw and intimate chapter can feel really vulnerable too.

So many mums put it off thinking:
“I’ll book photos when I feel better.”
“When the kids are older.”
“When life settles down.”
“When the house looks nicer.”
“When I lose the weight.”
“When things feel less chaotic.”

But the truth is…
family life is almost always a little messy, busy and chaotic.

And time keeps moving whether we document it or not.

I have mums message me all the time saying:
“I wish I had done the photos.”
“The kids grew so quickly.”
“I thought I had more time.”

The beautiful thing is your children aren’t looking for perfection.

They’re looking for you.
Your arms.
Your voice.
Your comfort.
Your presence in their memories.

That’s what I want to document.

Love from a mum of 4 who absolutely understands this season of life and genuinely loves connecting with other families walking through it too 🤍
