The Warracknabeal Court House and historic Water Tower have stood watch over the town for well over a century.

Built during the late 1800s, these landmarks tell the story of a growing railway town and the people who helped shape it.

The Court House served the district for nearly 100 years, while the 1886 water tower originally supplied steam trains before later becoming part of the town’s water system.

Today they remain some of Warracknabeal’s most recognisable buildings and an important part of the town’s heritage precinct.

Nhill Railway Station opened in 1887 and helped connect Melbourne and Adelaide by rail for the first time.

Today the station remains part of the interstate rail line and continues to serve The Overland passenger service.

More than 130 years later, it still stands as one of Nhill’s most recognisable landmarks.
