TEAM WA for MXGP DARWIN 2026 💪🏼
We’re pointing the 2026 MA Motocross State Challenge needle out west today, with Team Western Australia now locked in for the major support event at the MXGP of Australia.
And the team will lob in Darwin with plenty of fire in the belly after finishing second overall behind Queensland in 2025.
In 2026, Western Australia will field a whole new roster in the MX85 class, while Ryder Matthews-Taylor, Jacob Thompson and Xavier Balinski will be backing up for MX3 duties. Matthews-Taylor turned heads just last Sunday (July 12) when he finished third overall in the MX3 class at the Traralgon ProMX round.
Assistant manager Justin Herold: “Motorcycling Western Australia is proud to announce the 12 young athletes heading to the MA Motocross State Challenge. They have trained hard and ridden even harder during the qualifiers to punch their tickets to Darwin.
“After a successful campaign in 2025 and knowing what to expect of the track and local conditions, Team WA is primed to go one better and take home the trophy in 2026. However, trophies or not, the experience will be unforgettable.”
Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia have now announced their teams, with the balance to follow over the next two weeks.
