Just a little note from my heart this Mother’s Day 🤍

If you’re waiting on galleries, messages, or the usual bits from me, thank you for your patience.

This week has cracked me open a little.

Birth work is such a beautiful privilege, but it means being invited into the most intimate, sacred, life-altering moments imaginable. It means witnessing women become mothers. Watching partners become parents. Hearing first cries. Feeling the electricity in the room when a long-awaited baby is finally placed earthside.

But it also means standing beside families in the moments where there is no first cry.

Where love still exists in overwhelming amounts, but it is tangled up with grief so deep it takes the air from the room.

This week, I held both.

I witnessed immense joy. The kind that fills your whole chest and reminds you exactly why this work matters.

And I also had the profound heartbreak of supporting a family as they welcomed their baby, knowing they would also have to say goodbye.

And in that space, I also want to acknowledge the incredible midwives who stood beside us.

For not just caring for that family so beautifully, but for caring for me too.

For reminding me that even in clinical spaces, humanity still has a place. That tears are not weakness. That grief can be held collectively. That sometimes what’s needed most is simply presence, softness, and a big group cuddle in the middle of heartbreak.

The work you do is truly magic. And I will carry that with me.

And if I’m honest, carrying both of those things at once has felt heavy.

Then comes Mother’s Day.

A day that can feel so beautiful for some, and so unbearably painful for others.

For the mothers holding their babies close.
For the mothers with empty arms.
For the women who became mothers in silence.
For those longing to be mothers.
For the mothers whose babies only ever knew the safety of their bodies.
For the ones mothering through grief, trauma, exhaustion, healing, survival.

This work asks me to hold space for the full spectrum of motherhood, and I do that with every part of my heart.

But I’m human too.

And sometimes after holding so much for others, I need a moment to quietly put the pieces of myself back together too.

So if I’m quieter than usual, that’s why.

Please know your galleries, your memories, your messages, your stories… they matter so deeply to me. I just need a little grace as I emotionally catch my breath.

To every mother, in every version that word exists… I see you today 🤍

Recently, one of my beautiful clients and their family experienced the heartbreaking loss of their baby late in pregnancy.

As they navigate unimaginable grief, we are hoping to ease some of the practical pressures that come alongside such a devastating loss. Funds raised will go towards funeral and memorial expenses, postpartum recovery support, time away from work, meals, and giving this family the space and time they need to grieve together without additional financial stress.

No parent should have to carry the weight of both heartbreak and financial burden at the same time.

Out of respect for the family’s privacy, identifying details will remain anonymous, however every donation, share, and message of support will mean more than words can express during this incredibly difficult time.

Thank you for helping wrap this family in love, care, and compassion as they honour their precious baby.

There’s something about birth that can’t quite be put into words… and yet, somehow, it’s all there in an image.

The quiet anticipation.
The strength you didn’t know you had.
The way your body just knows.
The hands that hold you, the eyes that meet yours, the moment everything changes.

Birth photography isn’t about perfect poses or polished moments. It’s about truth. It’s about documenting your story as it unfolds, exactly as it is… raw, powerful, intimate, and completely yours.

Every birth is different, every story is its own. But what they all have in common is this deep, undeniable magic. The kind you don’t realise the full weight of until you see it reflected back at you.

These are the moments that pass in a blur… the ones you’ll want to come back to. The ones your baby will one day look at and see just how loved they were from the very beginning.

And just as important… these moments never need to be shared. Your story is yours, always. It’s held with care, with respect, and with complete choice.

I am forever, deeply grateful to the families who do choose to share a piece of their story with the world. It’s because of you that others get to see what’s possible, to feel a little less alone, and to begin imagining their own story, too.

To be invited into this space, to witness it, to hold it for you forever… it’s not something I take lightly.

If you’ve ever wondered whether it’s worth having your birth documented, this is your reminder…
your story deserves to be told 🤍

If you’re starting to think about labour prep, my Elle TENS machine is available for hire.

TENS is a simple, non-invasive tool that can support you through labour by helping to manage pain and giving you something to focus on during surges.

Each hire is for 4 weeks, so you’ve got it ready to go well before things begin.

It’s one of those little additions that can make a big difference in how supported you feel.

If you’d like to add one to your birth toolkit, just send me a message and I’ll get you sorted.

This year is already flying… and I’m slowly watching my calendar fill with the most special kind of work.

Being invited into these spaces is something I’ll never take lightly. It’s not just about the birth itself, it’s the in-between moments… the way partners show up, the quiet strength, the vulnerability, the shift as a family grows.

My role is to hold space, to support you, and to document your story as it unfolds. Nothing forced, nothing staged, just real, honest moments.

Due to on-call commitments, I only take on a limited number of clients at a time.

If you’ve been thinking about having support in your space, this is your sign to reach out and have a chat.

Back in December I had the privilege of being invited into this space… and I don’t think that’s something I’ll ever fully be able to put into words.

To be welcomed into a birth, into someone’s home, into a moment this intimate… it’s a level of trust I hold with so much care and respect.

The energy in the room was calm, steady, and deeply grounding. You could feel it straight away. No rush, no pressure… just presence.

The midwives supported so beautifully. Attentive, respectful, and responsive to what was needed in each moment. It’s something I see across so many birth spaces in different ways, and it always looks a little different depending on the environment, the team, and the needs of the family.

And mum… she did this.

She followed her body, trusted herself, and moved through each moment in her own way, surrounded by support that felt right for her. There was strength in that, but also so much softness.

And dad… right there beside her. Steady, present, quietly supporting in all the ways that mattered. The kind of support that doesn’t need to be loud to be powerful. You could feel how connected they were through it all.

I always want to be really clear in the way I share these moments… every birth is unique, every setting is valid, and every care provider brings their own approach. This is simply a glimpse into one space, one story, one way it unfolded.

Being invited in to witness any birth, in any setting, is something I’ll never take for granted.

This little reel, turned vlog is just a small window into it 🤍
