I'm absolutely thrilled with the composition of this image, a memento from my journey to Werrikimbe National Park, located near Walcha and accessible via Wauchope/Port Macquarie.

The drive from Wauchope takes you through some beautiful scenery:

Start by driving towards Beechwood on Beechwood Road for around 6.5km.
Then, turn onto Bellangry Road and follow it for approximately 18km to the small town of Bellangry.
Beyond Bellangry, you'll enter Hastings Forest Way, which is an unsealed road.
Continue along Hastings Forest Way for about 30km through the forest until you reach the park boundary, and then another 8km to the junction with Cockerawombeeba Road in the eastern precinct.

This delightful walk in cool temperate rainforest visits King Fern Falls and Filmy Fern Cascades.

Discover the tranquility of an easy 2km walk along the King Fern Walking Track, leading to the picturesque King Fern Falls and the delicate Filmy Fern Cascades. This classic path meanders through a deep mountain gully cloaked in rainforest, providing a fantastic glimpse into the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia. Stand in awe of the giant Antarctic beech and the ancient coachwood trees that define this landscape. The rainforest is alive with birdsong, offering abundant opportunities for birdwatching. Keep your eyes peeled for log-runners, warblers, and yellow robins, and your ears attuned to the powerful and melodious 'eeoow-chewww-cho-cho' call of the olive whistler.

Just sharing some highlights from a trip to Werrikimbe National Park, including the beautiful Filmy Fern Cascades and King Fern Falls at Plateau Beech Campground. Along the walk through the Park, several sights particularly caught my eye.

Upper Oxley High-Country - Forbes River

In this tranquil setting, a lone, leafless tree stands prominently against a captivating sky. Its aged trunk and twisting branches speak of time and endurance. The tree overlooks a field of dry, golden grass, where the sunlight creates a gradient of light and shade, emphasizing the texture of the windswept vegetation. The interplay between the stark tree and the vast sky creates a sense of quiet solitude within the landscape.

The Milky Way rising above Watonga Rocks 🌌

Captured down at Lighthouse Beach in Port Macquarie, this moment showcases the galactic core emerging in all its brilliance. With the foreground rocks bathed in gentle coastal light and the stars stretching high into the sky, it’s always humbling to witness just how vast and vibrant our universe really is.
