I am Anna, Nepali-Australian who, not too long ago, left my career to become a world traveler. I enjoy travel writing, travel photography, and a minimalist lifestyle. With travel being a huge part of my life over the last 9 years, it really

is no wonder that it has somehow molded me into the person that I am today. In 2015, I left for my first solo travel and I knew I was hooked! If I hadn't been traveling since then, the hole size of Russia would exist in my heart. The story goes way beyond that obviously. So, to give you an idea. It all started when I >>>>>>>>

Just when I was wrapping my thoughts on Kathmandu, where I was born in my book. I see this on news 💔 I feel so disappointed in the government and feel sad for Nepal. This has been a long time coming, and one of the reasons why many leave Nepal. I am so proud of Gen Z and especially for those who are protesting. It is ALWAYS about the people who are standing in the arena. They are the ones who make HISTORY. The ones who watch on the sidelines, the best they can do is support. I read police are entering houses at night and attacking for protesting. Please be safe. Those 19 people didn't deserve to die, and justice will be served 🇳🇵RIP ... Genz don't just scroll, they show up 🫶🏽

#105 CYPRUS 🇨🇾

When I found out there was a lil Turkiye in the Northern Cyprus, I'd to check it out. From Larnaca to Nicosia, then to Turkish was an easy diy day trip.

Why are Turkish people living in the Northern Cyprus? Here is an explanation from an imaginitive 5 yr old

Imagine Cyprus is like a big playground, and for a very long time, both Greek kids and Turkish kids played there.

Then, some grown-ups from Greece and some grown-ups from Turkey had a big disagreement about who should be in charge of the playground. This made the Greek and Turkish kids on the playground argue too.

One day, a long time ago, the grown-ups from Turkey sent their helpers (like teachers or police) to the northern part of the playground to help the Turkish kids there feel safe. These helpers stayed, and more grown-ups and kids from Turkey came to live in that northern part.

So, the reason you hear Turkish in Northern Cyprus is because many Turkish people have lived there since those grown-ups from Turkey came to help the Turkish kids a long, long time ago. It's like if your grandparents moved to a new place and then your family and friends went to live there too – that place would have a lot of people who speak the same language as your family!

More on the stories/ Cyprus highlight and on the blog.

Also Nicosia, Larnaca & Nissi were some of my fav in this country.

104 MALTA 🇲🇹

If you’re wondering how to make the most of Malta without a car, I’ve got you covered. From the ancient streets of Valletta to the idyllic islands of Gozo and Comino, how to experience Malta at its finest on the blog.

Know before you go to Malta
Best time to visit: The optimal time to visit Malta is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months. These seasons offer mild temperatures and fewer crowds, allowing for a more relaxed experience while exploring the islands.
Getting around:
* Public transportation: Malta's public bus system is extensive and affordable, connecting major towns and attractions.
* Ferries: Ferries operate between Malta, Gozo, and Comino, providing scenic and efficient travel between the islands.
* Taxis and ride-sharing: Taxis are readily available, and ride-sharing services like Bolt operate in major cities, offering flexible transportation options.
Language: Malta has two official languages: Maltese and English. English is widely spoken, making communication straightforward for English-speaking travellers.
Currency: The official currency is the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted in urban areas, but it's advisable to carry some cash for smaller establishments or rural areas.
Insider Tips:
* Tap water: Tap water in Malta is safe to drink, though it may have a different taste due to mineral content. If you prefer, bottled water is readily available.
* Must try: Pastizzi yummmm (flaky, pastry-filled delights), Fenek (rabbit stew), and Bragioli (Maltese Beef Olives)
* Electrical outlets: Malta uses the British-style G-type electrical plug (three rectangular pins). Ensure you have the appropriate adapter for your devices.
* Cultural etiquette: While Malta is generally relaxed, it's respectful to dress modestly when visiting religious sites. Additionally, tipping is customary in restaurants and cafes, typically around 10% if service is not included.

100 COUNTRIES DOWN! 🇰🇼✨

This is a HUGE milestone for me. I started solo travelling the world in 2015, visited 7 continents, lived in 7 countries, and ended up aiming to gradually visit every UN-recognized country. It's been a journey filled with lots of memories, fun, stress, ups and downs, and countless hours of planning and effort.

I've documented every step of the way on my blog, sharing my experiences and hopefully inspiring others, especially women, to chase their travel dreams. I know firsthand how intimidating it can be to travel solo, especially when facing financial constraints and societal expectations. But I believe in the power of female empowerment and the importance of exploring the world.

Seeing the impact my blog has had on others, receiving messages from people who've been inspired to visit a new destination – that's what fuels me. It's a reminder of why I started this journey in the first place.

After nine years of travel and seven years of consistent blogging, I'll be taking a well-deserved break soon. But who knows, maybe I'll be back with more adventures soon!

P.S. To celebrate this momentous occasion, I treated myself to a little diamond and gold shopping with my KWD 😉

99 countries down, and I'm officially running out of passport pages on passport #3! 🤯 Pinching myself as I approach my 100th country milestone. This journey has been an absolute whirlwind of emotions, from the exhilarating highs of exploring new cities to the humbling moments of stepping outside my comfort zone 🌎

Bahrain: 🇧🇭 99 Down, 1 to Go!

This tiny island nation in the Persian Gulf was scorching hot, but the lack of air conditioning was surprisingly bearable (in the avros & thereafter lol) 🥵 Bahrain is a fascinating blend of ancient and modern, with a rich history and a vibrant culture.

Fun Fact: Did you know Bahrain is home to one of the world's largest and most successful Formula 1 circuits? 🏎️

Manama, the capital: This busy city offers a mix of modern skyscrapers and traditional souks. Don't miss the Bahrain National Museum for a glimpse into the country's past, and explore the vibrant Bab Al-Bahrain souk for unique souvenirs.

Safety: Bahrain is generally considered safe for solo female travellers. However, as with any travel destination, it's always a good idea to be mindful of your surroundings and take basic precautions.

Dress Code: While conservative dress is recommended, especially when visiting modern areas, I found that a knee-length skirt and a top were perfectly acceptable.
I may have stood out a bit from the crowd, but that's part of the adventure! ✈️

Can you believe it? 🤯 I started this journey in 2015, and now I'm just one country away from reaching the incredible milestone of 100 countries visited! It feels surreal, but it's a testament to the power of perseverance and the joy of exploration ✨️

I've documented every country of this incredible adventure on my blog, sharing my experiences and travel tips so you can chase your own travel dreams. 🌎 annasherchand.com
