カナヘビ - Japanese grass lizard
is a wall lizard species of the genus Takydromus. It is found in Japan. Its Japanese name is 'kanahebi'. 'Hebi' means 'snake' in Japanese, although it is not a snake.

This is shot of Mt Fuji I took from lake Tanuki just as I was leaving after shooting a colourful sunrise. A lightsource and rainbow appeared on the opposite side of the sunrise. Unfortunately I don't know what this phenomenon is called, but it was an amazing sight to witness. Maybe someone here knows the scientific term?

鏡池 (Kagami Ike - Mirror Pond)
I had tried a few times at this spot waiting for either right conditions and/or the right colours however couldn't quite come away with it. It is recommended to visit early morning when the pond is usually at its most still however I fell in love with the golden afternoon light enhancing the Autumn colours. There was only a narrow window of time when the light washed the scene and the reflection was also sharp (even this one you can see the ripple starting on the left, after this point I could not get a perfect reflection due to wind and wildlife).

Nage Iwa (投げ岩）
This rock formation is found off the coast of Niigata sitting in the Sea of Japan.
The legend associated with this rock is a god (Okuninushi no Mikoto) came to propose marriage to Nagawahime of Echigo, beforehand he had to have a contest of strength with a local demon on this beach. The winner was who can throw a rock the furthest.
The rock thrown by the god flew far offshore and broke into two pieces. This is the rock that can be seen in this image.
However, what the demon threw fell very close to the shore. The demon was so frustrated that he kicked his rock and it sank into the sea.

Pallas' fritillary (Argynnis laodice, ) butterfly staring down my lens barrel. Found in damp forested places in Japan during July to August as well as southern Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, north-western Kazakhstan, and across the Palearctic to Siberia , Amur and Korea.

An introduced invasive species in Japan. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get directly front on because of the location.
