Solemn times for one of the most important and longest-serving military aircraft ever made.

Former Royal Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force 100 Squadron Gloster Meteor F.8 marked with serial number A77-581. That number was worn by another RAAF 77 Squadron F.8 during the Korean War which was piloted by Sergeant George Hale (after whom the aircraft was nicknamed "Halestorm"). Hale famously shot down a Mig-15 in the last air-to-air engagement of the War on 27 March 1953 in that aircraft.

This one was a regular air show performer in Australia and is seen here taking off at the RAAF Williamtown Airshow in September, 2010.

HARS Aviation Museum - Albion Park beautifully restored Douglas DC-3 (C-47 Dakota/Skytrain) VH-AES taking off at the 2024 Airshows Downunder Shellharbour. This one was sorely missed at this year's Wings Over Shellharbour airshow.

The bomber's turn this time, with the Hudson, Meteor, Pig and Rhino performing a flypast at the RAAF Williamtown Airshow in 2010.

Another combination of aircraft that, unfortunately, will never be seen again here or anywhere else.
