A message from the Thornton Eildon District
Football club committee
We write with equal measures of pride and concern. Pride, because our women’s team is the beating heart of a club with more than 106 years of history. Concern, because without stronger community support and increased playing numbers, the future of Thornton Eildon Football Club is at risk.
Since 2020, the Roo’s have been a single‑team club, with our women proudly leading the way and ensuring the club continues as a place to play footy, connect, and belong. They were the first women’s team in the Outer Eastern League, paving a pathway for women and girls to play footy locally.
We are immensely proud of what has been achieved, particularly the positive impact our club has had on building friendships, confidence, family connections and creating a sense of belonging. We’re proud of the partnerships the club has made with our sponsors, the Shire Council, as well as the Alexandra Football & Netball Club. We thank them deeply for their ongoing support.
The dedication of our core group of committed players has kept the Thornton Eildon Football Club strong. To build on this foundation and continue being a place of connection and support, we need additional players to ensure we can field a full team this year. Our most immediate priority is securing a women’s team for the 2026 season. With the cut‑off date fast approaching, we are actively seeking players to help safeguard the long‑term future of our club.
If you’re reading this and have a daughter, sister, wife, cousin, neighbour, or if you’ve ever wondered what it might be like to join a team that feels like family, we would love to welcome you.
Training runs Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00–7:30pm. Bring a friend. Come be part of something that lifts people up.
We are a family-oriented club, welcoming players aged 14 and above. Whether you’ve played for years or have never picked up a footy, there is a place for you here and an opportunity to help build a club that truly reflects our whole community.
Together, we can ensure the Thornton Eildon District Football Netball Club not only thrives, but grows stronger, prouder, and more connected than ever.
