KARIJINI

There are only a few places that I still think about all the time, years after I have visited, Karijini is one of them. With its colours, gorges, clear water and desert scapes, I could spend a year in this National Park just finding locations.

SALMON RUN - Scottish highlands - Oct 2025

The River Coe flows through the Scottish highlands, surrounded by large mountains, the water is so clear and pure. It's fair to say that Scotland has stuck with us since we visited, it's one of the top priority places we really want to get back to.

LAST SNOW

In September I managed to be in the Snowy Mountains to capture what seemed like the last real snow fall of the 2025 season, and it was an unforgettable day with epic conditions.

Sometimes I visit the mountains and hardly get the camera out because its not right. But at other times, such as this one, there are photographs everywhere.

"FOREFRONT" Berwick, England - October 2025

A moody afternoon in the north east of England, I couldn't resist the contrast between the lighthouse and the grey surrounds.

"WORN" Dunstanburgh Castle, Northumberland, England

On our way back to Edinburgh from Alnwick, we made sure to stop in at this amazing location in the later afternoon. I had learned of this area months prior to our trip, and made sure we visited. The north east of England was brimming with summer life with rich green grasses, birds and many crops in the fields and I had hoped for the same type of richness in this headland.

The sun on this day wasn't due to set until 10:45pm, so unfortunately a sunset shot wasn't an option. So with thick overcast conditions, I had to wait it out for just enough light to seep through during a brief break in the clouds to my right.

Such a different view to what I am used to in Australia.

"WHITE OUT" Thredbo River in the Snowy Mountains

Late season snow blankets the mountains and I was fortunate enough to be able to be here, all be it a last minute decision. The night before would see 15 cms of the white flakes fall here, to low levels, and when I woke from camp, I knew it was on with a total white out.

This is purely 'right place right time' stuff, and in these conditions the light is so soft and easy to work with. To get this look, I rose early while the snow was still falling and fresh. Searching the banks of the river for a vantage point, clambering over heath and rocks. When I found this spot I marveled in this pristine view.

An exciting day for us today, as we begin our travels to Europe for 5 weeks. I have my gear and will be looking to capture landscapes where the opportunity arises. For this trip we will be spending time in Singapore, Scotland, France, Italy and Greece.

Can't wait to see what we find on the other side of the world.

"By Chance" Wimbie Beach, South Coast, New South Wales at sunset.

My first real opportunity to take out the new Sony digital camera happened a few nights back. I feel I was pretty lucky with the light, I was only on the coast for one night.
