The single biggest mistake I see couples make with Margaret River weddings is scheduling the ceremony too early 🌅
Golden hour here is genuinely spectacular. That warm, low light that turns everything soft and amber. But it only works if your ceremony finishes in time to get portraits before the sun disappears behind the ridge.
I've shot at venues like Rustico at Hay Shed Hill more times than I can count. I know exactly which direction the light comes from, which spots are sheltered from the afternoon wind, and what time everything shifts. That knowledge goes into every timeline I build for couples.
My approach is simple. I work backwards from sunset. Build the ceremony end time first, then the portraits, then the formalities. Every part of the day falls into place around the light.
If you're planning a Margaret River wedding and haven't thought about this yet, it's worth a conversation before you lock in your timeline with your venue. The difference between beautiful and breathtaking is usually about 45 minutes.
DM me and we can talk it through. I've been doing this for over 15 years in the South West. 📷
