Today, on , we remember, We demand justice.
Nine years ago, the Rohingya people endured unspeakable violence in Myanmar - massacres, sexual violence and the systematic destruction of their homes and community . The world watched as over 700,000 Rohingya fled to safety, only to find themselves in the overcrowded refugee camps of Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, where they have been waiting for nine long years for justice, dignity and a path home.
Yet, The Rohingya story is not just one of suffering. It is a story of resilience, resistance and the unyielding pursuit of justice. In the camps, the Rohingya refugees have built schools, clinics and organisations to serve their communities.
They have raised their voices, documented atrocities and advocated for their rights on global stages and Rohingya community-based organisations are beacons of hope, proving that even in exile, they remain agents of their own future.
But justice cannot wait, Nine years of displacement is nine years too long and the Rohingya people deserve accountability for the crimes committed against them, the restoration of their citizenship and rights in Myanmar, and the freedom to return home safely and with dignity. Today, we stand in solidarity across borders with the Rohingya people and their organisations in exile and their demand for justice is a demand we must all echo.
