Ants (পিঁপড়া) 🐜 — Caught relocating the whole family the moment the bark came off.

গাছের বাকল খুলতেই ভেতরে পুরো একটা পিঁপড়ার কলোনি চোখে পড়ল, আর একটা পিঁপড়া তখনই তার লার্ভাগুলোকে নিরাপদ জায়গায় সরিয়ে নিতে শুরু করেছে। বাসা যখনই বিরক্ত হয় বা খুলে যায়, পিঁপড়ারা সহজাতভাবেই আগে বাচ্চাদের সরিয়ে নেয়, বাকি সব পরে। এর মাথায় থাকা কাঁটাযুক্ত গঠনটা ম্যাক্রো লেন্স ছাড়া চোখেই পড়ত না।

Peeled back a bit of tree bark and found an entire ant colony underneath, with a worker already carrying its larvae to safety. Ants do this instinctively whenever the nest is disturbed — the workers grab the young and move them somewhere safer before anything else. That spiny, armored head on this one is a small detail easy to miss without a macro lens.

Dozens of ants, one target — teamwork nature didn't have to teach them. 🐜

গাছের বাকলের উপর ছোট্ট একটা শিকারকে ঘিরে অসংখ্য লাল পিঁপড়ার এই কর্মব্যস্ততা দেখে থমকে দাঁড়িয়ে পড়েছিলাম। প্রতিটি পিঁপড়া নিজের কাজ বোঝে, কোনো নেতার নির্দেশ ছাড়াই পুরো দলটা একসাথে কাজ করে।

No single ant is in charge, yet the whole colony moves like one coordinated unit around its find — teamwork built entirely on instinct.

কেন জানি না এই ফুলটা এত ভালো লাগে। কেউ যত্ন করে বড় করে না, বিশেষ যত্নও পায় না — নিজের মতোই বেড়ে ওঠে। তবুও সৌন্দর্য ছড়াতে কোনো কার্পণ্য করে না। আমাদের মাঝেও এমন মানুষ আছে, যারা নিজের যত্ন ছাড়াই অন্যকে দিতে থাকে নিঃস্বার্থভাবে।

Rooster (মোরগ) 🐓 — This one made me work for the shot

এই মোরগটার পেছনে অনেকক্ষণ ছোটাছুটি করতে হয়েছে, শেষ পর্যন্ত সে বুঝেই গিয়েছিল যে ভালো একটা ছবি না পাওয়া পর্যন্ত আমি থামব না। তাই বোধহয় একটু স্থির হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছিল। আলোয় তার ঝুঁটি আর গলার লাল অংশটা এতটাই উজ্জ্বল লাগছিল যে এই দৌড়ঝাঁপ পুরোপুরি সার্থক মনে হয়েছে।

Chased this rooster around the yard for what felt like forever before he finally decided to stand still. I think he figured out pretty quickly that I wasn't giving up until I got the shot — that comb and those wattles are hard to resist under good light. Worth every bit of the chase.

Leaf Beetle 🐞 — Small, textured, and easy to overlook.

গাছের ডাঁটা আঁকড়ে ধরে থাকা এই ছোট্ট পোকাটাকে পেয়ে গেলাম। খোলসের গায়ে সূক্ষ্ম টেক্সচার আর হালকা মেটালিক আভা আলোতে বেশ ভালোভাবে বোঝা যাচ্ছে। সম্ভবত এটি এক ধরনের পাতা-খেকো বিটল (leaf beetle), যা সাধারণত বাগানের গাছের পাতা আর ডাঁটায় দেখা যায়। শুঁড় দুটো প্রায় নিজের শরীরের সমান লম্বা।

Found this little beetle gripping onto a stem, its shell showing a fine textured pattern with a slight metallic sheen under the light. Likely a species of leaf beetle, commonly seen feeding on plant leaves and stems in gardens. The long segmented antennae almost outmatch the size of its own body.

Bee (মৌমাছি) 🐝 — Covered in pollen and still working.

এই মৌমাছিটাকে সরাসরি সামনে থেকে ধরতে পেরেছি, তখনো সে ফুল থেকে পরাগ সংগ্রহে ব্যস্ত। মাথা আর শুঁড়ের উপর ছড়িয়ে থাকা পরাগরেণুই বলে দিচ্ছে কাজটা কতটা মনোযোগ দিয়ে করছিল। ভালো করে দেখলে দুই বড় চোখের মাঝে তিনটে ছোট্ট চোখও দেখা যায়, যেটা সাধারণত কারো নজরেই পড়ে না।

আপনি কি কখনো মৌমাছির চোখ এত কাছ থেকে দেখেছেন? 🐝

Got this bee face-on while it was busy foraging, and the pollen scattered across its head and antennae tells the real story. Look closely and you can spot the three tiny simple eyes sitting between its two large compound eyes — something most people never notice on a bee.

Covered head to toe in pollen and still staring right at me. 🐝✨

ফুলের মধু খুঁজতে খুঁজতে এই মৌমাছিটার সারা গায়ে পরাগরেণু লেগে গেছে — একদম সোনালি রঙে ঢাকা। ক্যামেরা তাক করতেই সোজা আমার দিকে তাকিয়ে রইল, যেন বলছে "এত কাছে কেন?"

Every hair on its body catching tiny grains of pollen — a small but essential pollinator, doing quiet work most of us never stop to notice.

Dix Balino 🖤📷

ফিলিপাইনের এই অসাধারণ ম্যাক্রো ফটোগ্রাফারের কাজ আমি অনেক আগে থেকেই অনুসরণ করতাম। ম্যাক্রো ফটোগ্রাফি শুরু করার আগেও তাঁর ছবি আমাকে অনেক অনুপ্রেরণা দিয়েছে।

হাজার হাজার মাইল দূরে থেকেও তাঁর ছবির মাধ্যমে ম্যাক্রো কমিউনিটির সঙ্গে এক অদৃশ্য সংযোগ তৈরি হয়েছিল।

আজ সেই প্রিয় আলোকচিত্রী আমাদের মাঝে নেই।
তাঁর ছবি আর অনুপ্রেরণা থেকে যাবে আমাদের মাঝে।

Dix Balino from the Philippines was one of my favourite macro photographers. I had been following his work long before I started macro photography, and his photographs inspired me greatly.

Thousands of miles away, his work still connected him with photographers across the macro community.

Sadly, he is no longer with us.
But his photographs and inspiration will remain.

What's Inside the Water Ball? 💧

কচু পাতার উপর জমে থাকা এই পানির ফোঁটাটার ভেতরে রঙিন কিছু একটা আটকে আছে। দেখে মনে হচ্ছে যেন কাচের একটা ছোট্ট শো-পিস। কিন্তু ভালো করে খেয়াল করলে বোঝা যায়, ভেতরে আসলে জীবন্ত কিছু একটা আছে। বলুন তো, পানির বলটার ভেতরে আসলে কী আছে?

Land Snail (শামুক) 🐌 — Small enough to disappear into the moss.

শ্যাওলার উপর দিয়ে ধীরে ধীরে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছিল এই ছোট্ট শামুকটা, আলোতে এর স্বচ্ছ খোলসটা প্রায় চকচক করছিল। এরা নিজের গতিতেই চলে, আর পেছনে যে পিচ্ছিল আস্তরণ রেখে যায়, সেটাই ওদের রুক্ষ জায়গা দিয়েও নিরাপদে চলতে সাহায্য করে।

Found this tiny snail making its way across a bed of moss, its translucent shell almost glowing in the light. Snails like this move at their own pace, leaving a thin trail of slime behind that helps them glide over rough surfaces without getting hurt.
