বৈজ্ঞানিক নাম: Threskiornis melanocephalus
এই ছবিতে দেখা পাখিটি একটি Black-headed Ibis, যা বাংলাদেশের জলাভূমি, ধানক্ষেত, হাওর ও বিল এলাকায় খুব পরিচিত একটি পাখি। পাখিটির সবচেয়ে বড় বৈশিষ্ট্য হলো এর খালি কালো মাথা ও গলা, লম্বা বাঁকানো কালো ঠোঁট, এবং সাদা থেকে হালকা ধূসর শরীর।

Black-headed Ibis সাধারণত ধানক্ষেত বা অগভীর পানিতে ধীরে ধীরে হাঁটতে হাঁটতে খাবার খোঁজে। এদের প্রধান খাবার হলো পোকামাকড়, কেঁচো, ছোট মাছ, ব্যাঙের বাচ্চা ও জলজ প্রাণী। লম্বা বাঁকানো ঠোঁট দিয়ে কাদার ভেতর খাবার খুঁজে বের করতে এরা খুবই দক্ষ।

এই পাখি সাধারণত দল বেঁধে চলাফেরা করে, তাই ছবির পেছনেও আরও কয়েকটি পাখি দেখা যাচ্ছে। সবুজ ধানক্ষেতের মধ্যে সাদা শরীরের পাখিটি খুব সুন্দরভাবে চোখে পড়ে, যা প্রকৃতির এক শান্ত ও ভারসাম্যপূর্ণ দৃশ্য তৈরি করে।

Black-headed Ibis পরিবেশের জন্য খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ, কারণ এরা ক্ষতিকর পোকামাকড় খেয়ে প্রাকৃতিকভাবে কৃষিজ পরিবেশের ভারসাম্য রক্ষা করে। তবে আবাসস্থল ধ্বংস ও জলাভূমি কমে যাওয়ার কারণে বর্তমানে এদের সংখ্যা অনেক জায়গায় কমে যাচ্ছে।
