অনেকেই কথায় কথায় বলে, “আজীবন থেকে যেও”, এই আজীবন মানে কতখানি? কতদিন? কত মাস? কত বছর?
এই আজীবন কিন্তু কখনই ‘সারাজীবন’ নয়। কনসেপ্ট-টাই ভুল।

ছলছল চোখ কিংবা সমুদ্রসমান খুশি নিয়ে কারও জন্য একটা বিকেল অপেক্ষা করার পরও যদি সে না আসে তাহলে মারাত্মক অভিমান হয় না?
কারন ওই মুহূর্তটায় আপনি সেই মানুষটাকে ছাড়া আর কিচ্ছুটি চাইছেন না,
অতএব আমাদের কাছে ওই মুহূর্তটা কিংবা ওই বিকেলটা গোটা একটা জীবনের সমান,,
মানুষ এভাবেই মুহূর্তে বাঁচে। মুহূর্ত-কেই ‘আজীবন’ নাম দিয়ে দেয়।

লতা-জি তাঁর গানে বলেছেন,
“Do pal ke jeevan se ek umar churaani hai,

Zindagi aur kuch bhi nahin Teri meri kahaani hai”

কতটা প্রাসঙ্গিক বুঝতে পারছেন! আসলেই তো কারও কাছে সারাটা জীবন নেই, ‘কাল’ আমরা কেউ দেখিনি,, শুধুমাত্র আজ কিছু মুহূর্ত দিয়েই আপনাকে কাউকে সারাজীবনের জন্য রেখে দিতে হতে পারে, এবং কাল সে না থাকলেও......
