Blues on blues on blues! 🌊 To close out the last wave of commissions, here’s a handbuilt ceramic whale stein, painted in rolling waves of blue, like it’s splashing through its own little sea. šŸ‹ www.chrissieyoung.com | Ā© 2026 chrissieyoung

Kicking-off the new year by sharing a super fun commission I wrapped up in December.

This piece was made for a wonderful and long-time friend—a ceramic re-creation of a well-loved Tropicana plastic jug, gifted to his partner. She had been using the original jug as a planter for her spider plant, so the goal was to replicate it just as it existed: distressed patina, familiar markings, and all.

This commission taught me so much, especially how fun (and challenging) hand-building sculptural forms can be. I am feeling really grateful for the chance to experiment and excited to invest more time in sculptural work moving forward! 🌱
Happy New Year, everyone! www.chrissieyoung.com | Ā© 2026 chrissieyoung

Barley & hops steins, a classic combo, revisited and elevated šŸ”„

Glazed in matte walnut brown that melts seamlessly into striking orange-red. A stunning burnt gradient I just can’t get enough of! This small commission is officially complete, and I’m thrilled to share it.

In other news: keep an eye out this weekend for some lingering mugs up for grabs! Items will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with studio pickup or local delivery (Almonte). Be sure to hit me up if you’re interested in grabbing some pieces for the holidays! www.chrissieyoung.com | Ā© 2025 chrissieyoung

Aspen leaf steins brushed in the colours of the forest floor; soft leather-brown flowing beneath a veil of dark green that ripples in the light. Each one holds its own bit of character, a reminder that no two pieces ever come out quite the same.

These steins carry a story of trial and error. The first batch didn’t survive a glaze mishap, but this pair rose from the pivot, and I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. Sometimes the kiln has its own way of teaching humility and persistence.

I cannot believe it… tomorrow marks the start of the studio tour, and the forecast looks stunning! www.chrissieyoung.com | Ā© 2025 chrissieyoung

Fireflies, moons, and stars pressed into clay, glazed in hues that caught me off guard — earthy browns drifting beneath a swampy green, speckled a drippy, mystical blue. Like that still moment before night hums to life, these mugs hold the quiet warmth of dusk. ✨

It’s hard to believe the studio tour is just a few days away. The days leading up always feel a little electric, a mix of excitement, nerves, and the chaos of pulling everything together.

Eric, Aspen, and I are so excited to welcome all you lovely folks this weekend and share what we’ve been up to! www.chrissieyoung.com | Ā© 2025 chrissieyoung

Emerging from the kiln, new mugs brushed with whispers of plum, crimson, chartreuse, and blue. Pansies impressions bloom gently across their curves — small echoes of spring caught in clay, where the glaze clings like morning dew meeting fire.

I wanted these pieces to feel like a walk through an early-spring garden: a little moody, earthy, shifting in hue as the light moves. Alongside the matchbox mugs, these will be part of the collection I’m bringing to the studio tour this weekend! www.chrissieyoung.com | Ā© 2025 chrissieyoung

Okay, it’s time for the big reveal! ✨

Remember that unfired mug with the matchbox + matches stamp I teased a while back? Well, here they are, fresh out of the kiln, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! The copper oxide settled beautifully into the stamp details, and the glaze combo brought out such warmth and depth — exactly the cozy, nostalgic feeling I hoped for. It’s like summer nights by the fire, captured in clay.

This piece (and more from the new batch!) will be ready just in time for the studio tour. Come by, hold them in your hands, and see how the light dances across the surface. &Pumpkin www.chrissieyoung.com | Ā© 2025 chrissieyoung

Sneak peek! Unfired mug featuring my recent matchbox and matches stamps, inspired by summer nights and campfires. This next batch aims to capture the cozy nostalgia of crackling flames and long evenings spent with good company beneath the stars. ✨ Can’t wait to see how these come to life in the kiln! Now to dream up the perfect glaze combinationā€¦šŸ”„ www.chrissieyoung.com | Ā© 2025 chrissieyoung
