This is no judgement and a very reasonable question but I’d like to explain to everyone something about the business you may not know so I can help you understand my world and pricing. The pricing is not for everyone, I understand. But I do find my prices still on the lower end of most professionals as I LOVE this job.
I was recently asked why my pricing is the way it is and if could I lower it. I am a service. Just like a hairdresser, nail tech, massage therapist, house painter, etc.
When you hire a professional photographer, you aren't just paying for the time they spend snapping pictures. You are paying for extensive hidden labor, gear, travel expenses/time and the professional expertise needed to deliver high-quality images.
For every hour of shooting, I spend 2 to 5 hours editing, and retouching images. Professional camera bodies and lenses often range from $2,000-5,000 each. I upgrade every so many years and use the old as backup because what if something happens during a shoot? I have editing software, hours on websites & marketing. Travelling is time for me even though not shooting it’s time spent to your session.

You see the photos being taken but there’s so much more to it.
