🍂 More than just family photos… it’s an experience worth remembering! 🌳📸

There’s something pretty special about spending time together in the forest, surrounded by beautiful fall colours, towering trees, and the peacefulness of nature. From exploring the trails to tossing leaves in the air and sharing a few laughs, this family session was all about having fun, being together, and capturing those genuine moments along the way.

That’s what we love about our custom forest portrait sessions! No two sessions are ever the same, and our beautiful outdoor studio gives families the freedom to relax, explore, and enjoy the experience while we create portraits they’ll treasure for years to come.

Today brought us to Rapid City School! We always love visiting small-town schools. There’s something special about the welcoming atmosphere and close-knit communities that make these photo days so enjoyable.

Another Wednesday, another busy day of school photos! 📸🍂

Today our Imperial Photo team was split between two schools! Kristyn spent the day at Oakville School, while McKenzie, Julia, and I were at La Verendrye School in Portage la Prairie, capturing plenty of school day smiles!

📸 A new school, a new experience, and another milestone for Imperial Photo!

Today marks our very first photo day at Roseau Valley School! Located nearly 300 km from Brandon, this is officially the furthest we’ve ever travelled for a school photo day!

The school was excited to welcome a new photography provider and bring a fresh approach to their annual school portraits. We were just as excited to show them what makes the Imperial Photo experience a little different! 📸

📸 Another week of school photo days is underway!

We kicked off the week with another early morning on the road, heading to Yellowquill School in Portage la Prairie! Of course, we couldn’t resist making a quick stop at the famous halfway tree along the Trans-Canada Highway. 🌳 With that beautiful sunrise behind it, it was too good to pass up! I’ve often wondered just how long that old tree has been standing there, marking the halfway point between Brandon and Winnipeg. If only it could tell us a few stories!

Once we arrived at Yellowquill School, we were back to doing what we do best — capturing school portraits! But this school has something a little different. We were photographing in a pretty unique room, complete with an actual DISCO BALL! 🪩 That’s right, a disco ball hanging right above our photography setup! In all our years of photographing schools, I think this might be the only one we’ve come across with its very own disco ball. How cool is that?!

📸 WHAT A WEEK OF SCHOOL PHOTOS! 🚗💨

Well, last week was one for the books! Between busy school photo days and LOTS of time on the road, we just didn’t get around to sharing our usual daily updates!

Our travels took us on TWO trips to Dauphin, Gilbert Plains, one to Portage la Prairie, and another to Winnipegosis! Throw in all the driving, early mornings, and the hustle and bustle of school photo days, and there just weren’t enough hours in the day! 😅

So instead of our usual behind-the-scenes photos, we’re doing something a little different this week!

We always love seeing the different school logos, mascots, and the pride each school has in its identity.

🏒📸 Back at the rink for another season of hockey photos!

We’re excited to be back on the ice with Carman Minor Hockey for another round of team photo days! This year marks our 8th year photographing this incredible hockey community, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their continued trust and loyalty to Imperial Photo.

One of the best parts of returning year after year is watching these young athletes grow up right before our eyes. From the little ones just starting their hockey journeys to the older players we’ve been photographing for years, it’s pretty amazing to see how much they’ve grown, both on and off the ice! 🏒

A huge THANK YOU to Carman Minor Hockey for welcoming us back for an eighth season! We truly appreciate the relationships we’ve built over the years and the opportunity to capture memories for so many hockey families. Here’s to another fantastic season! ❤️📸

🍂❤️ Sometimes it feels good to get back to where it all began!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve photographed a couple in a custom portrait session. There was a time when sessions like these were the bulk of my photography business, and somewhere along the way, with all the school and sports photography we do, I haven’t had nearly as many opportunities to get back to this side of photography.

And I have to say, I’ve missed it!

A huge thank you to Cooper and Scotlyn for booking a fall portrait session in our Portrait Forest and giving me the opportunity to capture some beautiful moments between the two of them. ❤️

We wandered through the trails, explored a few of my favourite spots, and took advantage of the gorgeous fall colours and evening light. It’s sessions like these that remind me just how much I enjoy slowing things down, getting creative, and capturing those natural moments between two people.

Having our very own Portrait Forest right here at Imperial Photo has opened up so many possibilities, and I’m excited to continue sharing this beautiful space with more couples and families.

Thank you again, Cooper and Scotlyn! It was such a pleasure having you both out! 🍁📸

📸 That’s a wrap on another great week of School Photo Days! 🎉

We closed out our Friday at two fantastic schools!

📍 Earl Oxford School – This one is extra special to us! We’ve been photographing Earl Oxford for 11 years, and it was one of the very first schools to welcome Imperial Photo all those years ago! ❤️

📍 Forrest Elementary School – Our second team was busy capturing smiles with the Timberwolves!

Both teams had their schools photographed by lunchtime! 🙌📸

A big thank you to the staff and students at both schools for having Imperial Photo back again!
