This photo of the Three Sisters Mountains, Canmore Alberta, was taken last week using High Dynamic Range (HDR) f-7.1, 1/400 sec, ISO 100. The second image is just a manipulation of the first – converting it to a night scene.

These sample images were taken on location at GREYSTONE COURT – Yonkers NY. In this venue the grandeur of the castle/mansion, built 1906 -1910, reflects the theme of “Old World meets Old Hollywood”. In the second image I dropped the shutter speed from 1/200 sec to 1/10 sec (dragging the shutter) resulting in the blur effect on the model’s sleeves.

These are samples of “Fashion Photography.” First a theme is established, followed by the selection of Analogous Colours, from the digital colour wheel. Clothing, shoes, hair, and makeup follow the desired colour palette. The background, lighting, and special effects (Gels, Smoke etc.) are designed to help focus your attention on the model & the clothing. The first image (red dress) is using fake smoke to capture the red light coming from behind & above the model. The dress, in the second image, will soon be on the market – yours for USD $12,000. The third image has a light (from behind) on the “disco ball” while the background light uses a gel (for colour) plus a GOBO (Go Between Optics) to generate the Polka Dot effect. For this image I used a 4-Point Star Filter on my lens.

Here are examples of low-key lighting. Low-key light accentuates the contours of the subject by throwing areas into shade while a fill light or reflector may be used to illuminate the shadow areas to control contrast. The “hard light,” generating harsher shadows, used in these images was focused using a Westcott Optical Snoot (designed by Lindsay Adler).

Below are 2 different versions of the same image – taken on Vancouver Island. The Colour image (before) and the Black & White image (after). The same image but with very different feelings / emotions between the two. The B & W was created by combining 3 different effects: Welinski Drama + Pictorial Pro + Silver.

This photo is of a Mountain Blue Bird it's processed using "The Harris Shutter Effect". 3 images, with some degree of movement, are combined. Each image using a different colour channel (Red, Green, Blue). Areas of movement appear as various colour effects.
