HIGH RIVER TIMES - April 7th - The High River Library once again hosted their ever-popular Easter “Peeps” competition where children and adults designed dioramas that include Peeps candy doing interesting activities.

Peeps are a marshmallow confection that has been marketed in Canada and the United States since 1953. For 70 years, the sugar coated marshmallows with eyes, in their traditional form, are shaped like yellow baby chicks and pink bunnies. Originally promoted primarily at Easter, Peeps can now be found year-round since 2014 in seasonal holiday shapes.

“The community has been very creative this year,” said the library staff. “Most of the artists are between six and 11 years old, and then we have the teenagers and a couple of adults have entered.”

Over the past month, the librarians have seen that “Peeps love exercise!” this year and there are dioramas of Peeps swimming, camping, and playing baseball.

“We've received so many Peeps entries this year. There are Peeps vacationing, Peeps at home, Peeps car racing, Prehistoric Peeps, Disney Peeps and Peeps modeling. You really need to stop by to get the full Peeps effect,” said the library staff.

On Thursday, April 6, the library announced the winners and prizes were awarded.
