Some deny it and they go through their lives living empty existences where they spend their waking moments chasing hollow goals such as fame or fortune. Even when they catch a glimpse of this emptiness in their souls, they block it out of their consciousness because they are afraid of what they will see if they probe into it. Some recognize it and they attempt to drown it out by chasing the distra
ction offered by the world. They use the momentary highs of human pleasure and pain to push it to the back of their thoughts. And in those moments when they are alone, they stare at their reflections and wonder how to fill it up. They cry in silence behind closed doors and running showers where their sobs are stifled by the sound and their tears are washed away by the water…
At certain moments of our lives, we do find the answer. But most of us hold it at arms length…
Fear freezes us.
…somehow, we feel that if we surrender
…if we commit
…we lose our freedoms
…that we would be leading rigid lives that denies human pleasures
…that we would be ostracized by our friends and family
…or that we can delay it
…when we are old
…or when we are dying
…or when life becomes unbearable
…
But fear is just the world trying to stop us, our fears our conquerable, we just have to trust and let go…
And it won’t be a miracle. Commitment won’t make all our problems go away right at that moment we pledge ourselves…. Some will see more trials come their way that will strain their new-found faith. Others will indeed have miracles – small ones and large ones…
…but when we do, that hollowness in our souls starts to heal
…and in the end
…it is all that matters…
