One of my favourite parts of experimenting is when an accident results in something better than what I was hoping to achieve.

I asked to bring it to the studio this weekend, and she did. She absolutely nailed it.

brought all the glitz and glamour and gorgeous smiles to my studio on Saturday to help me find out just how much detail can be captured in 3D and rendered as a 3D Splat!
So much detail that it’s blowing my mind.
I bet my 80’s fashion designer friends wish this tech was around back when we were in art school.

You know that feeling you get when you finally meet someone you’ve wanted to work with, and they really do turn out to be larger than life?
Thanks , it was a big thrill to work with you today, and I can’t wait to see what we were able to capture.

I can’t think of anyone that I’ve captured in 3D over all these years that would appreciate my learning and experimenting more than .
It also doesn’t hurt that he has the same first name as me, the same initials, and nearly the same nickname (for a short while when I worked at the U of C, I was known as Mr. Bunny).

was a huge help with my recent dance Splats! and even had time for some fast fashion, which of course inspired me to do more.
This weekend I’ve got someone coming in to help me see how far we can go with hair and outfit Splats! and I can’t wait to see how fabulous they turn out.

I started my 3D capture adventure just over 9 years ago, and for most of that time, not much changed. I’d add some cameras and wish for more affordable full-colour 3D printers to enter the market, but really, not much changed.
In the past year, so much has changed that it’s almost overwhelming, and most of my effort these days goes into getting a grip on what direction I want to take for my next 3D adventure.
Decisions, decisions.

My latest experiment was to see what would happen if I first filmed dancing and then with 3D captures. The idea was to blend multiple recordings with a set of animated 3D Gaussian Splats of a short dance she choreographed for this test.
I am so pleased with how this experiment turned out and can’t wait to see where this leads.
Thanks, Ashley!!!

I don’t know about you but I like to start my day with a little smile.
