Finding out tonight of the passing of Adrienne Mahoney. I only met Adrienne once — summer 2024 at — but that was all it took to understand the kind of impact she had on the people around her.
Not a typical post from me. But one of the sad, yet beautiful things about being a photographer is we have the utmost privilege of being able to capture the essence of someone and preserve their existence in our art.
Photographing her on stage was an experience I won't forget. She didn’t just play bass... she poured herself into it. She was full of energy. Had the best faces. And truly loved being on stage. There was this contagious energy about her that elevated everyone in the room. You couldn’t help but feel it.
After the set, I had the privilege of chatting with her backstage. It was brief, but she had this rare presence that made you feel grounded and seen. Genuine, warm, real. She had this ability, I feel anyway, to absolutely lift everyone around her. I walked away thinking the world was better for having someone like her in it.
Hearing of her passing is really sad to hear of someone of her kindness, uplifting attitude and ability. Sometimes one moment with someone is enough to leave a lasting mark. My heart is with her family, her friends, and the entire community that loved her.
Thank you, Adrienne, for the light you brought into every space you walked into. I’m grateful our paths crossed.
