'In Passing' BTS Day 4: Buses, Babies, and other antics...

Our second weekend of shooting involved capturing a lifetime of milestones for our opening montage. It was a happy accident that our schedule worked out this way, but because our cast and crew had already worked together at our hospice for three days, there was a growing sense of comfort and chemistry. This gave our flashback sequence an even stronger sense of authentic family connection and personality. Huge gratitude to the City of St. Albert for helping us charter a bus and secure a film permit. Also, extra thanks to G. and his partner for allowing us to film in their home.

We want to thank everyone who came out on this project, and especially our cast. Thank you so much for committing to the roles that helped us tell this story.

We're proud to support and collaborate with the Alberta Emerald Foundation.

We’re so grateful to our 2026 Visionary Sponsors:

The Government of Alberta, Pathways Alliance, The Distillery Film Company, and the Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta 🙏

As we mark 35 years of celebrating, promoting, and inspiring environmental excellence across Alberta, we’re reminded that none of this work would be possible without the support of partners who believe in it.

Their support helps us recognize and share the stories of people and projects making a real difference across the province.

A huge thank you to each of them 💚

We were thrilled to talk about our webseries pilot episode 'In Passing' with CBC Edmonton. Series creators Chris Beauchamp and Gordie Haakstad sat down with Min Dhariwal to talk about the challenges (and unique perspective) of filming in a real hospice, and the importance of confronting end of life care in storytelling.

You can watch 'In Passing' at Stories for Caregivers' website, YouTube Channel, or page.

'In Passing' was produced with the participation of TELUS Fund.

Huge gratitude to our cast and crew, and extra thanks to Jackie and Fonda at the Red Deer Hospice Society for providing support and professional feedback on our story. We also owe a huge debt of gratitude to Pilgrims Hospice Society for supporting us and allowing us to film onsite at the Roozen Family Hospice Centre in Edmonton.

Finally, we also really appreciated the help of Fiona and the 25+ students from Archbishop MacDonald High School, and the City of St. Albert Transit for helping us arrange filming on a city bus.

We are hoping to tell more stories in our fictional hospice. If you'd like to help us do that, go leave a comment on the Youtube video about why stories like this matter to you, and follow our page to stay up to date on this and other projects.

We're excited to be working with Northwestern Polytechnic on their 'Programs That Work' Campaign.

We’ve been working with NWP since 2021, helping them with various video production and audio-visual services during several key milestones for the institution, including their 2021 virtual convocation, 2021 name change announcement, 2022 brand launch event, and most recently, the 2023-24 Programs That Work campaign.

These projects have included commercial video production, brand stories and interviews, professional photography, campaign development, live streaming services, multicam live event coverage, and helping to build a large library of professional footage for long-term use.
