14 years ago today, I photographed my very first birth.

14 years later, I am still completely in awe that this is the work I get to do. To stand quietly in the room while people meet their babies for the first time. To witness strength, vulnerability, love, fear, joy, and transformation over and over again. There truly are no words for the honour of being trusted with moments this intimate.

Over the last 14 years I have documented somewhere around 130 births. Home births, hospital births, water births, c-sections, births that happened five minutes after I arrived and births that lasted over 24 hours. Every single one has changed me in some way.

To every family who invited me into their story, every midwife who referred me, every person who shared my work, liked a post, left a comment, told a friend, or supported this dream in any way… thank you.

These 14 years have meant more to me than I could ever explain.

Mini sessions are OPEN and honestly… this year is a GOOD one!

Like… I went all in. Favourite locations, best time of year, dreamy light, and more dates so you actually have options (Yay! 😉).

These are the sessions where you don’t have to stress, your kids don’t have to “behave,” and somehow we still end up with photos you’re obsessed with. A little bit of chaos, a lot of love, and the real stuff in between!

Here’s what I’ve got for you this year 👇

🌸 May 21 – Cherry Blossoms @ Irene Parlby Park
(date may shift depending on blooms because… Alberta 🌸😂)

🌿 July 28 – St. Albert Botanic Park

🌼 August 25 – Blooms on 7 Flower Farm (only TWO spots for this one 👀)

🌆 September 10 – Downtown Edmonton (Kinsmen/Walterdale area)

🍂 September 24 – Whitemud Park (near Snow Valley)

🌅 October 11 – Laurier Park by the river

Basically… something for every vibe ✨

If you’ve been meaning to update your family photos, this is your sign.
And if your kids are wild… perfect. Mine too 😂

Spots always go quickly, so don’t wait too long!

I cannot wait to see your families again.

To every mother I have had the incredible privilege of photographing over the years… thank you. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

And most of all - HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY.

There truly are no words big enough to express what it means to be invited into your lives during some of the most meaningful, vulnerable, joyful, exhausting, sacred seasons of motherhood. From pregnancy to birth, from newborn days to the beautiful chaos of raising little ones… I carry every single story with me.

I have watched mothers do the quiet work that means absolutely everything. The endless comforting, carrying, feeding, holding, loving, organizing, worrying, nurturing, sacrificing, and showing up day after day after day. The work that often goes unseen… but is truly the heartbeat of a family.

And I honestly believe one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves — and our children — is to preserve these seasons in meaningful photographs. Not just the perfectly posed smiles, but the real moments. The way your child reaches for your hand. The way they look at you. The way your home feels in this season of life. The love woven into the ordinary moments that someday won’t feel ordinary at all.

These photographs become proof. Proof that you were here. That you loved deeply. That this beautiful, messy, fleeting life existed exactly as it was.

I feel endlessly blessed that so many mothers have trusted me to document their stories over the years. It is one of the greatest honours of my life.

And because motherhood deserves to be celebrated and remembered…

My Motherhood Special is running right now 🤍 It includes a mini documentary-style session and a beautiful album to hold these memories in your hands forever. Truly the most meaningful Mother’s Day gift.

TODAY we celebrate the heart and soul of birth care — MIDWIVES.

Happy International Day of the Midwife.

To the Edmonton midwifery community — the ones I’ve had the honour of standing beside in some of life’s most raw, powerful, and transformative moments… I don’t think words will ever fully do justice to what you give.

You show up with steady hands and open hearts.
With quiet strength, deep wisdom, and a presence that instantly softens a room.
You hold space in a way that feels both grounding and sacred — offering reassurance, advocacy, and unwavering support to families as they step into a completely new chapter of their lives.

I’ve witnessed the way you protect birth.
The way you trust it.
The way you care for not just the mother, but the entire family around her.

It’s not loud work. It’s not always seen.
But it is deeply felt — in every breath, every touch, every calm word spoken when it matters most.

To be able to document even a small piece of that… is something I will never take for granted.

To every midwife — thank you. For your patience, your compassion, your resilience, and your belief in women and their bodies. You are shaping birth stories in the most meaningful, lasting way.

If a midwife has touched your life, today is a beautiful day to remind her.

After all the love on my last outdoor birth, I had to share another one.

This was back in 2016—the birth of Lincoln, and my very first time documenting an outdoor birth. I had the absolute honour of being there alongside Heidi and Tara of Hope Midwives as the sun slowly rose, wrapping everything in the softest, most beautiful light. And Lincoln… thank you for waiting for the dreamiest light to make your entrance ✨

There was something so peaceful, so beautiful about it all… a quiet kind of magic I will never forget.

If you’re dreaming of an outdoor birth or maybe just thinking about one, I would be so honoured to document it for you—please PLEASE reach out, I’d love to connect with you!!!!!!!!

I created something for you.

It’s called the Guided Journal—and it’s so much more than a journal.

It’s a place to slow down. To notice. To remember.

Inside are thoughtful prompts, gentle guidance, and meaningful questions designed to help you tell the story of your life right now—the real, everyday moments that so often slip by unnoticed. The way your child comforts themselves. What they say. What they love. What your days actually feel like.

It walks you through your year—helping you reflect before your sessions, notice the details during, and put into words what photos alone can’t hold.

Because your motherhood session isn’t just about images.

It’s about creating something lasting:
your photographs + your words.

A story your children will one day read.
A way to remember not just how it looked—but how it felt.
I designed every page of this journal myself—for you.

To guide you.

To help you see the magic that’s already there.

If you’ve been craving something deeper than “just photos”… this is it.

Let me help you tell your story.

✨ Book your motherhood session and receive your Guided Journal.

Because we are all desperately in need of a little spring right about now…

Back in 2017, I had the absolute honour of photographing the most beautiful outdoor birth… at sunset… under a cherry blossom tree 🌸

It still feels like a dream.

I remember arriving and helping move the birth pool into the perfect spot beneath the tree—just enough shade, with the sun setting right behind it. And somehow… the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. That golden light, those petals, the calm… everything came together in a way you just can’t plan.

And I have to say, working alongside midwives Tara and Heidi is always such a gift. Missing you both today as I relive this beautiful birth!!! (Clearly I’m craving some spring vibes over here 😅). They are truly incredible at what they do, and being part of a team like that makes the entire experience feel so grounded and supported.

If you’re dreaming up something special for your birth this year—whether it’s at home, in water, or maybe even outdoors like this—I have a few openings left for birth photography.

I would absolutely love to document something like this again!!!!!

Send me a message and let’s start dreaming it up together.

Most of us think of portraits as something we create.

We ask our kids to stand still.
To smile.
To look a certain way.

And for a brief second… we capture something beautiful.

But is it them?

Or is it who they were in that one instructed moment?

Because the version of your child you know—the one you love so deeply— isn’t standing still.

It’s in the way they move.
The way they laugh when no one’s watching.
The way they light up over the smallest things.

It’s in the in-between moments.
The real ones.
The ones that are gone before you even realize they mattered.

That’s what documentary photography holds onto.
Not perfection.
Not performance.

But truth.

A motherhood session isn’t about creating something new—
it’s about preserving what already exists.

Who they are.
How they love.

What this season of your life actually feels like.
So one day, when you look back…
you don’t just see your child.

You recognize them.

If this is the kind of portrait your heart is drawn to,
I would be so honoured to document your story.

Motherhood sessions are open—send me a message to begin.

There are moments in motherhood that feel so ordinary while you’re living them…

and yet, they are the very moments that become everything later.

The way your home looked.
The rhythm of your days.
The small, quiet things you didn’t think to hold onto.

Until one day… you wish you could.

I think about this often. About the questions I’ll never get to ask my own mom. The pieces of our story that are gone, not because they didn’t matter—but because they weren’t documented.

And it’s the reason I care so deeply about this work.

This isn’t about perfect photos.
It’s about preserving your life as it is right now—so one day, your children don’t have to wonder.

They’ll be able to see it.
Feel it.
Remember it.

If your heart is pulling you toward this… don’t wait.

Motherhood sessions are open, and I would be so honoured to tell your story.

Send me a message or visit the link in my bio to book your session.

This has been on my heart for a long time… and it finally feels like the right moment to bring it to life 💛

I’m hosting a meet-up for both seasoned and aspiring birth photographers here in the Edmonton area—and truly, this feels long overdue.

If you’ve ever wished for more connection in this work…
More people who get it…

A space where you can ask questions, share experiences, and feel supported—this is for you.

This isn’t about competition.
It’s about community.

About sitting together, getting to know one another, and creating something supportive and meaningful within our local birth photography world.

I am so excited to meet new faces, reconnect with familiar ones, and build relationships with those who feel called to this work.

✨ Details:
