😍 Today, we attended 2 exciting events!

The grand opening ceremony for our gorgeous William Hawrelak Park AND UFest Edmonton Ukrainian Festival 🇺🇦

is always the opening festival for the summer and it’s always a great time, great weather and great eats!

💪🏼 I delivered 60 lbs of ULINES today! 😂

I’m back at work and wish I could say it feels good, butttttt ….. it does not 😂

I’m already dreading Monday ….. Monday is a mega-hard day for all letter carriers nationwide 🥺

It’s census time again and we have 1 day, Monday, May 4th, to deliver full coverage, to every point of call on our routes 😭

Last time, May 2021, I worked 11.5 hours to get it done and the routes were easier to complete back then ….. they’re now about 25% longer 😕

I came back too soon! 😅

I did however miss phone book delivery, so shout out to Morgan who covered my route! 👍🏼

✈️ Day 19 of 19

We begin the long journey home!!

*Fun fact! We will be travelling back in time 7 hours and 15 minutes! True time travellers 😉

We leave Tokyo in about an hour, Sunday at 4:55PM and arrive in Vancouver 7 hours and 15 before that at 9:40AM 😍🙌🏼 Magic!

Once we arrive in Vancouver, we have an 8 hour and 30 minute layover and then a quick flight home to Edmonton ♥️

I had my last 7-Eleven sandwich and Mommers had her last “White” Coke …. we’ve said our goodbyes to Japan and are excited to get home 🇯🇵💕

I’m excited to get home, snuggle my Boyfriends, turn on the TV and read an Archie comic before bed 🥰

🍣 Day 18 of 19

Today, I crossed off Bucket List 36: eat sushi in Tokyo 😉

We didn’t do much today …. I bought a bunch of Hello Kitty t-shirts …. when in Japan …..

I thought I’d have a hard time finding one big enough for my brother, but the exact opposite happened …. they only had M-L left and I ended up getting 5 t-shirts that will fit Nolan 😂 Haha

My little Camilla will be swimming in it! So, I hear there’s a Sanrio (Hello Kitty) store at the airport …. I’ll try my luck tomorrow 🤞🏼

Oh …. and we went to 7-11, of course! 😅 7-11 is a big part of Japan …. their little crustless sandwiches and brûlée ice cream are to die for! 😋

It’s just after 8:00PM here and we’re sleep prepping for our long journey home tomorrow …..

🐈 Day 17 of 19

We bid Mt. Fuji adieu this morning and said hello to the bright lights of Tokyo! 😍

Holy crap balls is Tokyo ever busy!!! 🤯

We spent 90% of our time here so far in the subway station! 😂

If we went down there unsupervised, we may never resurface again! Hahaha!

Shinjuku Station alone has 200 exits! 🥹 We’d be wandering around down there for the rest of our lives 😅 Mommers thinks we’d miss our flight on Sunday …. so we’ll remain above ground tomorrow 🤣

No more subways for us on this trip! 😉

Tokyo is like nothing I’ve ever seen before!! Millions of people everywhere, all the time!!

We saw so much today and are super grateful for our amazing CEO, Jade and for our substitute CEO for the day, Maya! 🥰

We’re exhausted, it’s late, and we’re going to bed now! 😴 💤

🏔️ Day 16 of 19

I can’t believe we only have 3 days left 🥹
Time has flown by!

Anyway, today, we hopped on a few subways 🚊, then on a bullet train 🚄 to Odawara, then on a local train 🚆 to Hakone Yumoto, then on a local bus, then on a Lake Ashino-ko boat ride, then onto the ropeway/cable cars 🚠 to the top of the mountain, then one more bus ….. and we were at our hotel! 😅 Whew!

It was another busy travel day …. but guess what, Peeps?!

WE GOT TO SEE the top of MT. FUJI 🏔️🥳

She’s a very shy mountain and usually has cloud cover on top ….. but I got many, many great shots of her 😉👌🏼

Tonight, we had a traditional dinner and all wore traditional clothing 😍

Our dinner was seafood 🍣🍤🦪🍚 and I must admit, I’m not a seafood lover, but Mommers is even less so ….. so I let Mommers eat my vegetarian dinner and I sucked it up and ate the seafood 🥴

I finished everything I was offered, because I hate to see food wasted …… but it’s definitely not my favourite 🫠

Most of the group is now having sake and singing karaoke 🎤, but that’s another thing I’m definitely not a fan of …. so Mommers and I are in our room prepping for bed 😴

⛩️ Day 15 of 19

Today, we visited one of the most classic, most Instagrammable places in Japan 🇯🇵

Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine! ⛩️

It was established in 711 and consists of roughly 10,000 torii gates 😳

All I wanted was a photo of me, inside the gates, with no one else in it 😂 Haha! I manifested soooooo hard and guess what?! SUCCESS!!

All of these photos are unedited and have had no people removed!! We did good! 😍🙌🏼

After the 10,000 torii gates, Mommers and I had a $27.73 each, wagyu beef burger 🍔 It may have been the best burger I’ve ever eaten 😋

We even got black gloves to wear while eating it so our hands didn’t get all juicy 😅👌🏼 Nice touch!

After our juicy burgers, we went to Gu! 🛍️

Gu is to Uniqlo what Old Navy is to Gap 👍🏼

I bought 2 pairs of mega-pleated, barrel legged trousers …. they were each only $29 …. I’m wearing a pair tomorrow, so you’ll get to check them out 😉

We’re back on a bullet train tomorrow and hoping to see yet another classic Japanese icon 🇯🇵
