I never thought I would feel the need to write something like this on my photography page, but after seeing a few comments and disappointing reactions to some of the images I’ve shared recently, I feel it’s important to address it.
As a photographer, I understand that not every image I share will resonate with every person. Photography is subjective, and everyone is entitled to their own preferences and opinions.
However, as a mother myself, I have to admit that some of the reactions I’ve seen have been disappointing.
I exclusively breastfed both of my children until they were one year old, so I know firsthand that breastfeeding can be one of the most beautiful, rewarding, challenging and vulnerable experiences of motherhood. It isn’t always easy. I certainly had my own struggles along the way, which is part of why I have such a deep appreciation for the mothers who choose to have these moments documented.
My photography is about celebrating people, connection, motherhood, family and the real moments that make these seasons of life so meaningful. Breastfeeding is a completely natural part of motherhood, and I will continue to photograph and share these moments with the same care and respect that I give to all of my clients.
You may not personally enjoy this type of photography, and that is absolutely okay. You are never required to follow a page or engage with content that isn't for you.
What I do ask is that we continue to treat one another, and especially the mothers and families whose images I have been trusted to share, with kindness and respect.
If my photography or the content I share isn't something you wish to see, there is always the option to unfollow. There is no need for negative comments or reactions.
I will continue to create the work I believe in, and I will continue to celebrate motherhood in all of its beautiful, authentic and imperfect forms. 🤎
Thank you to everyone who continues to support my work, my clients and the stories I am privileged enough to document.
